12U Spring/Summer Ranking

by PitchersDad99 » Wed Apr 27, 2011 7:42 am

looks like we are paying the same gate fees and watching the same games...

Yes, the same old games at the same old fields and getting the same old ranking.

MYOPIC:
[a] lacking foresight or scope ; "a short view of the problem"; "shortsighted policies"; "myopic thinking".

Open your eyes there are other very good teams out there. They may not be a part of the "Good Ol'boy" network, but they are good.

Pitcherdad99.....WTF are u talking about?

Rankings have changed in the past two weeks and seems like we missed YOUR Team? I bet Tshau will have changes in his rankings. Memorial day weekend will give a better test of teams true rankings.

Break it down and let me know where I missed the bus.....Not a perfect science, but rankings are FAIR and OBJECTIVE for sure....Big time improvents for some of the 12's teams since the Fall.....(smash,Hotshots, Grapes RV, Foothill & AASA)...

Same old, good old boy rankings..You seem very (-) or just a Hater?

Take it easy there Napoleon.

I never said the teams aren't good. I said that when you only look at the same teams playing on the same fields you get a very "MYOPIC" view of who is out there. Besides who have AASA played and beat so soundly that they deserve to be ranked in the top ten. In the beginning of the year the OBS Monarchs were ranked only because they played in Stockton. These rankings always take the same teams and shuffle them into a different order and say they are objective. That is B.S. IMO.

Same old, good old boy rankings..You seem very (-) or just a Hater?

The way you wag your finger only shows how deep the "MYOPIC" condition is in your narrow little mind. Tisk, tisk.

Gametime, I watch lots of softball, so we may indeed be watching the same games. BUT we are definitely not watching them through the same glasses.

Your ranking ignores the whole premise of the Tenshun Daddy-Ball-Free Ranking (TDBFR) system. Among other things, your ranking seems to be influenced by nice jerseys, bright-shiny thingies and popularity.

It looks like you gave an honest attempt, but please reference the following checklist to help ensure your ranking is both Daddy-Ball and Daddy-Goggle Free: 1) Watch as many teams as possible. 2) Take a look at the level of competition a team is playing against. Do they beat the top teams, or only the lesser teams? The TDBFR system gives little credit for beating weak teams. 3) Go back and look at records of how all the teams performed (scoreboard don't lie). 4) Then ask yourself does the ranking reflect what you would actually expect to see if these teams came face to face?

Also, bragging about playing up (you mention that as one of your qualifiers) might look good and sound good to some, but IMO means little if a team can't even dominate their own age group.

Tenshun rule of thumb: Don't just look good. Be good.

Pitcherdad99.....GET A LIFE .....YOU are SPECIAL...

After looking at your posts

Holly crap post:
AASA 14's vs umpire & Grapes #1 pitcher=You sound like AASA HATER!!!!

Good Team bad Team, good coach bad coach Post= That sounded SPECIAL!!!

Coward, all coaches Post:1/2 of these teams play daddy ball. There are GREAT coaches, but some poor ones too.

Myopic Post:Dude you are SPECIAL for sure.

And for the record...tshau ranked aasa #11 way before I did....But AASA 12's are 12-2 so far this season, I think. Rolled by smash and loss to storm 4-3...

Lets talk about your team????Maybe we shouldn't...best of luck with that pitchersdad99...

Tshun....I think both of our rankings are pretty close and I can only speack on what I see or post...

It appears I'm much higher on Sorcerer, Grapes RV, Hotshots and AASA than you...and that's ok...I RESPECT the fact you take time to do rankings and make bucket fun for most of us..

Now maybe you can give me some facts or input on where I missed the bus on rankings??

I'm new to making post on bucket, but have been around top 98 teams the past for 4 year. Competiton is good business of bucket rankings....

Don't hate the player...Hate the Game......GAMETIME23

Tenshun, we will see after this weekend where the chips fall. There are a lot of good teams playing in Fresno. Some of the teams are not the teams you are usually listing, so I will be interested to see who gets noticed. It can't be said that nobody has seen them after this weekend.

GameTime23,
I just say what is on my mind, isn't that what this website is for.
Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them a hater.

I talked to the umpire personally and got the truth of it. Nowhere on any post did I see an objective point of view of what happened during that game. The coach lost control big time and was told to stay in the dugout and he couldn't do it. He then start dropping "F bombs" like he was surrounded by adults and not 14 year old girls. He cost his girls that game and got what he deserved, plain and simple. I would never put my kid on one of his teams.

I am not going to get in a name calling match with you. You win.

Gametime, you're right, we're not that far off on every team. But I do plan on changing my ranking a bit based on recent performance and team outlooks.

Call me old-fashioned, but I love to root for the underdog. So if a young up and coming team is bringing more game than one of the more established teams, I won't hesitate to put them higher in my ranking. I think it helps keep all the teams honest.

Opinions on rankings will differ, But let's see what others think...

PitchersDad, I don't think I'll make it to Fresno this year. But what teams should folks be on the look out for that I have not included in my rankings? Post the names of a few here and I'll see if I can get some heybucket eyeballs on their games.

Or you can just PM the names if you want.

Also, the notion that my ranking is some how an 'ol boys network couldn't be further from the truth.

I've got teams up and down in my ranking that haven't seen the light of day (or their current positions) in previous polls.
No courage. No game.

Pitcherdad99...sorry to hear you will be playing in Fresno...Only a handful of good teams...Smash, Angels & heat.....B Ball tourny...Only 1 top ten team plaing in Force Classic.

AASA/JM-would NEVER say the F-Bomb to anybody during a softball game. Way too classy and focus on his teams play for that.... most kids can't even make his team.

Just for the record JM was issued an apology for the umps actions from the tourny director...I would get your facts correct before you blast a coaches reported actions that you didn't even witness...

I do wish your team good luck and hope you get the rankings you deserve.
