Who are the big tough teams at 10u level A?? are there any?

by lightnigdad06 » Wed Apr 20, 2011 4:46 pm

At some point the coaches and parents stopped making it about these 10 year old girls and about themselves. Posts on this board about kicking girls off of teams, arguments about qualifications, who is better than who. I've seen little girls get their heart broken at this age over this game..as coaches or parents we need to remember we are there to guide, coach and make memories for young kids. I'm grateful my daughter found a team that does that. Good luck to everyone this year...Wagner we hope to see you guys soon for a rematch.

I cannot believe that I continue to read the posts on this thread. It's akin to watching a train wreck. The wily, cagey vets keep telling you folks that these girls are 9,10 and 11 years old, but you refuse to grasp the reality of the situation. Why not? Let me see if I can help. There is not a single coach at any level of college softball who ever asked how my daughter did or who she played for at 10U. Kapish?

I hope the parents of these 10 y/o girls are preparing for the disappointment of their dd's not wanting to play, or capable of playing at a high level in HS or college. I've seen it firsthand; burnout is real, and will affect the majority of these 10 y/o in the next 5 or 6 years. I guess live it up now while you can.

Some of the posters on here talk about to be the best you need to play the best, I have heard that Indiana ASA has three ASA/USA 10u National bids to award, (not sure if this is true) NWI White Sox have already earned their bid and intend on going to Johnson City Tn. and playing the best 10u teams in the country, I am wondering if any other Indiana 10u teams will be there!!!

By the comments on here it seems like there are only 4 good teams in the state of Indiana. You guys all play in the same tournaments that consist of about 6-10 teams. There are a lot of very good talented teams throughout the state. You have no respect for other teams unless their playing where your playing at. Try traveling the state and playing other teams before you crown yourself. See you soon!!!!

As said parent of a 10 year old I agree with the vets. the wife and i agreed its gotten a little crazy out there and my daughter wants to have fun. I hope others take this advice given. As a coach do you want to be remembered as a jerk or a mentor. As a parent do you want your child's love for the game to fall off because of your pressure? I wanted to be a rock star at 10. It's an age for dreaming.

Yes, exactly an age of dreaming as long as it is their dream and not their parents it will be fun for them. I have young children and grown children and have watched dreams change. Making great memories that will last a lifetime is what it is about not who's who. Best of luck to all the girls!

Sounds like a lot of you should meet up for ice cream then after your 10U games and not even keep score. Better yet, go back to rec. ball because you guys are talking like the local rec. ball leagues.
Folks, this is travel ball. Both of my daughters left wreck ball years ago at their own choosing to go play more competitive ball and be the best they can be. It was their own choosing, not mine or my wife. We had fun visiting the lake house on the weekends but have since stopped doing that.
And yes, it absolutely did matter where both of my daughters played 10u travel ball....Kapish!
My worry is a lot of rec. ball parents are moving into the travel ball world and it is getting very watered down. Travel ball is for girls who chose to do this theirselves and to break away from the rec. ball mentallity. I see girls having fun every weekend at the rec. ball leagues! It's a great thing.....go back to it but as for travel ball, most of these girls are in it for the fun and for the competition. Every other weekend is a tournament weekend and they are all striving to be the best. If not, or if their coach is not, then why as a parent are you wasting your time and money in travel ball. Just so that you can say your daughter plays travel ball? Then you get to travel ball and say "Oh, this should all be just for fun!" Fun yes, but competitive is a must. If not, go back to rec. ball and don't dilute travel ball for other girls. Rec. ball is much cheaper. After all, we are in a recession!

Jeremy Brower, coach of the Xtreme, it is not bait dangling. Just a simple question.... you guys pulled your girls out of the Worth tournament which is loaded to go play B teams. One of them being the CG Explosion which you guys took girls from to fill your team. You guys going there to try and prove a point to the Explosion. Honestly, Gators and Heat will move past your team quickly. They don't appear to be trophy hunting teams unlike I would now consider the Xtreme. Not sure why the Xtreme organization even let you guys keep the Xtreme name since you aren't part of their organization anymore. What you guys do still reflects on their organization. Dreams, Gators, Akadema etc would not have allowed this. Frankly, it's ridiculous and you guys are now a trophy hunting 10U team that avoids competition and all the while will be running the Xtreme organizations name into the ground when in fact you are not part of the Xtreme. Changing the tournaments was not a financial decision...... just admit it. You and that staff don't deserve the good name of the Xtreme organization and are giving it a black eye. It will be interesting to see if this will have lasting effects in the years to come on the Xtreme organization.
