14U teams as of 4-18 and additional information

by jaycreps » Mon Apr 18, 2011 12:26 pm

Below you will find the entries for 14U State in Lancaster on June 10-12-11. I have also added information on our draw, park(s) location and hotels.

Draw date and location: Wednesday, June 1st at the Ontario Hilton. This is located off the 60 freeway at Haven. It's the same place as last year. The time will be at 6:30pm.

The park locations are as follows:
Marie Kerr Park (aka "Best of the West")
39700 30th St. West
Palmdale, CA.
661-267-5675

Lancaster City Park (aka "The Big 8")
43063 N. 10th St. West
Lancaster, CA.
Phone N/A

These two locations are about 10 minutes apart.

Hotels:
I don't have a host hotel but both Palmdale and Lancaster have both been building new hotels in the past few years. I don't believe that it really matters whether you stay in either Palmdale or Lancaster since it's a relativity small area so you won't be too far from either playing location. The newer hotels are either along the 14 Freeway or on the west side of it. These would be preferable areas to stay in since restaurants are nearby.

Ok what does this mean? Does anyone know if Firecracker 96 Rodriguez’s goal is ASA Nationals or Premier?

PGF Far West National Championships! Sounds like a good fundraising opportunity.

Not everyone is going to make it to Premier. What are the rest of the teams supposed to do?

Roseville (ASA Western) or Park City?

To make matters worse, the top finishers at 14U State have to decide whether or not to take the ASA/USA berth before PGF's SoCal qualifier.

That shouldnt be a big deal. Hedge your bets and write the check. If you get one of the Premier berths, eat the donation to ASA and your team will still be way ahead money-wise.

Good question...probably would be good for a new topic. I'd say right now that our team is leaning toward not doing PGF at all. Not because we were upset with the guys who run it, that's old news and is a dead subject now as all parties have discussed it and moved on.

No, we would love to be part of the PGF party, but our 9th graders may not come back to the 14u team and although our 7th/8th graders are pretty strong, we would likely be spending a lot of money just to get beat, even if they did return and definitely if they didn't.

So we are looking at our other options now and Roseville and Park City are the top 2 contenders. Even if we qualify for Midland we will likely not go that hellhole.

It would be great if we could generate enough discussion here on HB to get all those that aren't going to 14U PGF to decide to meet up somewhere.

Anyone see that as a good idea? If not, please feel free to shoot me down.

Thanks

I know the thought of going to Midland has a few teams looking at both Westerns and Park City a bit differently this year.
