Who is the best club coach in North Texas?

by tugaol » Fri Jun 27, 2008 8:08 am

I would have to add Ellyson to this mix for the 14U level. His teams have made it to Nationals 3 years in a row as well. He may not be listed as the Head Coach but all you have to do is ask the girls on that team who leads them… We have played against him for a few years now and his teams get better every year. My DD is a little intimidated by him but she knows several of the girls on that Fusion team and they all say they love playing for him. He knows the game as well as anyone I have seen coaching and I admit I am limited to the 12 and 14U age groups. Maybe I will persuade my DD will tryout for them this Fall.

Pretty sure your opinion counts for nothing here anymore.

Don't know how personal attacks relate to this thread???? Maybe Lori can start one for that topic (titled "Personal Attacks")! I don't know Lori...don't think I want to.

Naudin has alot of experience that he brings from Cali but why is everyone so hung up on him? Kyle Strickland has a great reputation and alot of the girls are the ones that he has worked with over the years. Kyle also has many nationals under his belt and always seems to place high in them.

Why are people hung up on Ed Naudin? 3 national championships, maybe. I've seen his practices, and Flanigan's. Naudin is the best coach in the area, regardless of the "manager" or "coach" title.
[i]Wow, a "full ride" at Bugtustle State College to play softball. Let me know how that degree looks on the resume.

So you have seen every other coach in North Texas run practice? There are alot of coaches locally that have done good things at Nationals, that run great practices, they have well coached, disciplined teams. It has hard to compare what Ed accomplished to what teams from North Texas have accomplished, not to take anything away from his past but the bottom line is that there is no comparison to the talent level, the culture of the players and parents in So. Cal to North Texas. Winning with these players and parents is going to much more difficult.

So how hard do you think it is to even qualify for Nationals out of So Cal. All that talent is a double edged sword.

I have also seen Naudin's practices as well as other coaches and from what I have seen, they are ran no better than any other top coach. The work ethics are the same for any top team and that is why they stay on top.

Naudin did great in So Cal and it takes a good coach to help the team along with organization, practices, and managing, but the bottom line is that he was loaded with tons of talented players and without those players then a coach is just an average coach.

How many teams advertise........ "Looking for Players blah blah blah... head coach has played for blah blah blah and was voted 2 time all american blah blah blah......and has done blah blah blah....." SO WHAT! They may have done that in the past but now they have teams with average players and are going no where fast. I'm sure these "head coaches" know how to organize practices but without the talent and the parents commitment then those girls won't win a thing.

I really like to hear all the comments about the so called "daddyball" I personally have been on both sides of this sword and don't see much difference. Some of the so called daddy ball teams I have seen are better than the club teams and vice versa. Most of the time these "dads" are the only ones to step up . Usually in the higher levels (A class) these guy's push their daughters more than any other player because they are under constant scrutiny. I think the majority of the "daddyballing" goes on at the lower levels. What you see in the club ball is little Susies dad owns a car lot , or is a big lawyer , or whatever and brings in tons of money or sponsorships and they find a "place" for her on the team. This happens all the time. You deal with it one way or another anywhere you go. I know the 14u TT (Splash) are coached by a dad and I don't hear any complaints coming from a State Champion !
