O.K. ALL YOU "EXPERIENCED PARENTS" OF 12U, 14U, etc......

Now, a 10U parent needs your 2 cents! What would you choose and WHY?
WESTERN REGIONALS in Fort Collins, CO
or
TCS World Series in Reno, NV

Reno Baby...
You can lose all your hard earned money after a not so good day at the fields (or perhaps good) and just 10 min away, legalized prostitution...How do you beat that??

Depends on whether you have a goal in mind, like qualifying for ASA nationals for 2012. If you think you can finish in the top 2 at Western Nationals, AND you are going to be able to keep your team pretty much together next year (you have to have at least 5 returning girls to keep a berth), AND you think that team will be able to be competitive at ASA Nationals in 2012, then try to get the berth for 2012 at Westerns.

If you dont have a goal like that in mind, then go to TCWS instead. TCWS at 10u is far more fun for the girls and families (which is what it should be about at 10u). Comparison: TCWS gives you 6 games guaranteed (4 pool that actually count for seeding, and then double elim), while ASA gives you 4 games guaranteed (2 pool that are really practice games and dont really mean anything, plus double elim). TCWS provides opening ceremonies (parade), skills competition and all star game. ASA provides nothing other than opening ceremonies.

Whether there is more sightseeing to do in Reno vs. Ft. Collins is anybody's guess, but for softball, TCWS is more fun for 10u girls.

Alot of great information, thank you experienced parents!!!
LVTWFT, thanks for the info, but I'm not gonna partake in the prostitutes. I used to be a gigolo and I was tired of being used like that, so I know the feeling.
Spazsdad, we are a good team, just don't feel like it is really worth it at 10 years old. As many folks have said, any team can be beaten at any given point, so there's not much to prove at this age. Especially since 1-2 years from now, the current teams will have changed quite a bit anyways (some already have).
BigDottie, thanks! Right now, I am more focused on my daughter having fun than bragging rights. I don't want to burn her out and want her to continue to develop a love for the game.
P.S.
Anyone know where I can pick up some BALCO products for my daughter? I'm just sayin'....

Last year at 12u ASA Nationals the pool games did count for seeding purposes.

As far as it being competitive, not that big of a deal right now, she's 10 years old. I'll worry about that down the road for when it counts and save some cash in the mean time. Now, if Nationals wasn't that far away and it was a more entertaining than TCS, I would definitely make that my top choice. That is why I was asking, what both are like. Let me exaggerate a little bit to get my point across....what would interest a "10u parent" more......
NATIONALS (play the best) in the middle of summer in Death Valley
or
TCS World Series in Hawaii.....again, as a 10U parent.

Personally, I think it is refreshing that a 10U parent isn't worried about going where the college scouts will be! Not campaign experienced 10U teams to rebuilding 10U teams.

Keep up the good work, if she is getting decent coaching (or if you know the game well enough to teach her the fundamentals your self), enjoy some low key softball for a few more years.

This new question is not the question you originally asked. By rephrasing your question in these terms the answer is a no-brainer... and since you already know the answer, why ask at all?

Btw, if your primary consideration is your 10 year old having fun, try a week in Orlando, sans softball. She will have a blast!
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.
