Who are the big tough teams at 10u level A?? are there any?

by mygirloryourgirl » Wed Mar 16, 2011 2:53 pm

Hmmm sounds strange, especially since the ASA does not hand out ASA/USA berths until the same year unless you are the defending champion or 2nd place from the previous year... but hey who knows, stranger things have happened. All in all good luck, there are some bad a** teams that go and at the least it would be a learning experience for a first year team.

PDAD that is for all tourny's( Regional Nationals are included)... if you read down you will see the specifics for qualifying for ASA/USA National Championship Finals and how many teams can be in... it is a specific formula for that tournament and that one only...

I'm aware of how berths are determined for ASA/USA Nats. Chicago Metro ended up with 3 berths - they had to know they could award 1 of them in the Fall and still have at least 1 left to award later. It's not like they were around 200 or 1,000 registrations...

The 10u/12u late last fall tournamen hosted by Homer Hawks/Lemont Rockers was in fact a National Qualifier!

You are correct!!! A National Qaulifier, not a USA/ASA National Qaulifier!

Come on Bake, take it easy! We tried to give you good advice and you hid till someone had your back! If these rules are correct, congrats!! Have at it, you'll be surprised!! It must be nice having big shots(Hawks!!) in ASA to pull this off for a 10U team! Indiana team at that! I'm guessing this isn't over yet(Cindy)!! Everybody is watching, do us proud!! Good luck! We'll be pulling for ya! By the way,TD's are always right!!:)

looking in, what are you refering to when you say "it must be nice having big shots (Hawks) in ASA to pull this off for a 10u team"?? "Everybody is watching, do us proud"?? These are 10U girls that went out and won a National Qualifier, what's the big deal??

Bake,
What i'm saying is,we've done this for 10 years! Have never got a bid to USA/ASA Nationals in a fall tournament! There is no big deal,i'm done!! But, i'm guessing the teams in Cali,Texas and the rest of the world would be interested in findiing out how you get a bid in 2010 for the 2011 National Championships(the real one!without winning in 2010!) Everyone is watching?? That means those of us who follow this game will be interested in how you do!! Hopefully very good! Nobody is trying to knock you down, this is out of the ordinary for ASA!! As for the big shots, you've got one of the biggest in your corner, get as much as you can!! Relax, nobody is trying to knock you down! Your the one who keeps this game growing for my(please kill me) grand kids!! Hopefully you'll be coaching 18U by then!!

OK, can someone explain to me how an Indiana team qualified for ASA Nationals in Illinois, without that qualifier being a Regional? Bake, the reason you are getting so much attention about this bid is that you probably don't realize what you have. The younger age groups in Indiana don't play ASA on the National level, but the older age groups trade their eye-teeth for a chance to go to USA/ASA Nationals and it is HARD to get in. In 10 years of coaching in Indiana, we have never had an opportunity to qualify for USA/ASA in the fall, much less do it in Illinois and not have to play ASA State.

Gunshy- I agree. There is some crisscrossing border shadiness going on. And it doesn't add up to the history of ASA/USA Nationals that a fall tourny in Joliet with very few teams or competition bides you a way to ASA/USA Nationals...

Bake, you have to earn bragging rights through blood sweat and tears, and I think that is why some people are a little taken back by the berth. I would be curious to see a tourny that involved the NWI sox and some of the top 10u teams that were talked about on here..

However let's end this debate. Someone call the ASA National office and ask. Heck maybe I will. Then we can move on and all will be proven on the field, where it should be.
