12u Teams Texas State Wide

by slaphitter » Mon Jan 10, 2011 9:25 am

Texas State Wide. What teams would be Rated in the Top 10. This may be Difficult since NTX and STX seldon see each other Play, but with the start of spring just around the corner and the push for Nationals will begin, it would be interesting to see who might be the competition.

I will start it by naming some teams. Mainly STX since that is who I am familiar with.

Texas Force, Pearland Panthers, Tps 98, Mizuno, Austin's Finest

I'm not sure about the other 6 but that one Glory Adkins team that used to be 98 Dbat is pretty good.

It’s good to see someone is trying to get some talk going in the 12U division. It seems like people have either been muzzled or ate too much crow in the fall. You guys are spot on with your tops listed. From the Houston area I would add the Sugarland Smash, 98 Rage, and Storm Elite to this list also. They can hang with anybody just need to get consistent. Are there any sleepers out there?

At this point it's hard to say who the best is as tryouts are still being held. Glory Adkins(Allen) lost a very good player but has picked up some good players as well. I believe they are arguably the best team in Texas. Fusion 98 has beat some of the top team in Houston and lost to them as well. Pride 98 and McKinney Fireballs always give Glory Adkins and Fusion fits. Then you have 98 Rip and Glory 98. Glory 98 will give anybody fits and who knows who they picked up this Spring as well. Glory Adkins(Allen) has not lost to any of these teams in the last two years with the exception of Fusion 98 I believe.

No bashing just trying to disect some of the Metroplex's top teams. The 98 teams in NTX will be representing very well in all big tournaments this year. I think the top 3 in Glory Adkins(Allen), Glory 98 and Fusion 98 will do some damage if they get hot come ASA Nationals.

We'll find out early with these invitationals who's got what it takes to make an impact at ASA Nationals.

Don't know about the Austin Finest. They essentially have only one pitcher. She is good but not fast.

That 5 you named are shaky at best. AF is pretty average and Mizuno is only a notch above them. TF, PP, and TPS 98 should all compete well this season if they can stay together and healthy. Don't know of many quality teams from the DFW area, but I am sure there are a couple....

I would add the Texas Rage and the Houston Power to the 3 mentioned above and that is probably the top 5 from the Houston Area. Looks a little watered down so far this season. Smash is not the same team they were that finished so well at Nat's last season...only time will tell.

Have you even seen the NTX teams you just slighted play? Since most of them haven't played in the Houston area or a statewide tournament, I seriously doubt it. DBAT Allen is legit and should be one of the stronger 12u teams in the state, and some of the others were among the best 10us in NTX so no reason they won't be strong first-year 12us this summer.

Saw Glory 98 and Fusion 98 in the Fall. Unless they have added to their rosters, they would struggle in STX as they did at the RM. As far as best 10U's in NTX, I mean first year 12's, they would have a difficult time with the likes of Heat 99, Sudden Impact 99, Angels 99, Phantomz 99....just like they did in 10U ;) ;)

Would love to see some of the strong NTX teams more!!! Guess we will have to wait for the HOF qualifier and regional qualifier for that. Don't think many NTX teams will be traveling too far south anytime soon.
