Who are the big tough teams at 10u level A?? are there any?

by madwhit » Mon Aug 02, 2010 11:36 am

I would not say that it was a disappointing showing of the Gators. I would say we could have played better but welcome to 10u softball. I have always said that these girls would never disappoint me on the field unless they did not play with 100% effort. The word disappointment is so ugly.

The heart that not only the Gators but also the Chix, Thunder, Magic and Extreme played with was never or could never be a disappointment to any true softball fan. I do hope to do better next time but I am very pleased with these teams and will always be proud to be a Gator!

Crownpoint Bulldogs, Indiana Heat, NWI Whitesox as of now. It could change quickly though. Crownpoint Bulldogs and Indiana Heat have solid core of girls that have played together for a long time and are all of the same age. There teams don't split up each year but they remain together. I don't know much about Whitesox except I hear they are pretty good.

Heat has been best so far with Xtreme, Gators 2001 and Edge close behind in Indy area. CP 2000 and NWI Sox in the north. Wonder if we get to see NWI or CP play in Indy area so they can all play each other. Also, who are top young {2001) teams other than Gators 2001 who look to be class of these teams by far.

What makes the Indiana Heat the best in the Indy area right now? I haven't seen them play since fall, but when I saw them I wasn't very impressed with their pitching.

Since the beginning of the fall season (Sept 2010) the Indiana Heat is 24-1-1 in tournaments and have won every NSA and ASA tournament they have been in to date. They have won most tournaments either via run rule or the other team has forfeited. They have traveled to the northern part of the state as well as central. Their coach says they are headed to Fort Wayne soon to see some different teams from up that way. I would rate them among the top with those kinds of numbers and the kind of hitting I have seen from them. They easily stand apart from Gators, Extreme etc AT THIS POINT IN TIME. (Things can change quickly once spring arrives) As far as pitching, they have three very solid pitchers also.

Crown Point Bulldogs are also very very tough from what I have seen.

As far as young 10U, the Brownsburg Bombers are gonna be tough (team of all nine year olds) if they can develop pitching. Indiana Magic are a young team this year but are doing okay with some older pitchers. Not sure how they will be next year if they don't develop some younger pitchers.

I would put the Heat and Xtreme in a class by themselves. They played each other four times in the fall / early winter, Xtreme won 1, Heat won 3. The Xtreme are definitely ahead of the Gators and Edge. In my opinion, the Hoosier Crush need to be getting talked about a lot more than what the Gators and Edge are. The last time I saw Crown Point was last winter and they didn't look too bad then.

As of right now the Heat are a more solid defensive team than the Xtreme, however the Xtreme's pitching (definitely the best in the state) and their bats are better than the Heat. If the Heat had the pitching that the Xtreme had there would be no question they are the #1 team around, however that's not the case. It will be a very interesting spring once those two teams start getting back outdoors and playing each other. It will certainly be competitive!

BTW coach, the Heat did not run rule the Xtreme in any of the games they played them in. In addition to that, I don't think the CP Bulldogs will be able to hang with either of these two teams in my opinion.

I agree that Crush are also up there. Will be interesting to see how everyone comes out in spring. Heat and Xtreme have played very close games most of the time and pretty close. Edge had a good tournament last time they played at SportZone, but let's see if they can keep it up. Gators are not at the top yet, but are very very young. As fas as defense, Gators 2001 may be the best, with Heat close by. They are both very solid. Pitching has to go to Xtreme and hitting is a toss up. Remember its 10U it may change from 1 game to another. Crush also had good pitching in the fall, but defense let them down. For those of you who are on your first time around things will change 100 times through the year. Just relax and enjoy it!

I was at a round robin tourney in C.P. in November and I believe C.P. easily beat the Heat 7-1. C.P. looks to be one of the best teams in the northern half of the state.
