Texas High School Preseason Polls

by TXfastpitchsoftball » Tue Feb 15, 2011 9:43 am

Wakeland and McKinney always play each other close, especially early in the season, so nothing new here. More interesting question, is if not Wakeland No. 1 in Class 4A, then who? My money is on Royse City. My darkhorses are Birdville and Burleson because Region 1 is just so weak and anything can happen in a one game/series when you have great pitching. Should be a wild ride for sure.

Yea, I would go with Royse City. Should be fun in the metroplex.

What does Birdville have coming back? Thought it would be a photo finish to win that district betwenn Aledo, Azle & Birdville. Is Birdville that much improved over last year?

The 16u Texas Glory (Naudin) pitcher that recently committed to Texas Tech and Naudin's catcher go to Birdwell. The pitcher should establish herself as one of the best in the city this year. Hard to lose when the other team can't score. Burleson returns one of Naudin's aces and a host of other solid upper classmen who can hit. I like Royse City because their pitcher is by far the best in the city, but don't know if they have the defense or bats to go all the way. Like Hebron last year in Class 5A, I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of DFW teams that eventually go deep into the playoffs barely finish above .500 in the regular season.

No sh#t Sherlock...!

"if their pitching comes around" might also apply to the other 1000+ teams in Texas...

I also think it will be between us, Aledo, and Azle again. However, this is the first year we welcome in Timber Creek and Byron Nelson and I have no idea who they have. Birdville only has 1 senior and 2 junior returning starters. This may be a year of growth for us, but we do have a large sophomore class that will hopefully cause some damage over the next 3 years. Barring injury and/or girls quitting, I can't wait to see this team in 2013.

Good luck to all this year!

Tomball wins easily 4-0. Pearland's ace went the entire game giving up 4 earned runs on 11 hits. Pearland managed 4 hits and no runs.

It was far from an easy win... 0-0 going into the 7th and Tomball scores 4 earned runs.

It was a great game to start the season.

Remember the season is a marathon, not a sprint... Congrats on a good win...

See ya on the ballfield.
