6th Annual Money Tournament

by mrTfoo » Tue Feb 08, 2011 8:24 am

Traditionally in this age group south Texas teams have dominated north Texas teams. It seems that NTX has been closing the gap over the past year and putting some good teams in the mix. I don’t think they are quite there yet, but could be by the time this one is played.

Make a run at nationals? ;) Confidence is a great thing, don’t get me wrong, but let’s look at history. ASA is deep rooted in California. California teams keep winning year in, year out. Yes once in a while a different state Georgia, Texas cracks the top 5 but it’s a long shot. The odds are all on the house.

I heard this Texas Fusion team has some coaches out of CA and are trying to incorporate what they have learned out there in SoCal. Doesn't mean that it will translate but I hear they are pretty good coaches. They've built that team from the ground up, with speed, power and have been fairly successful. We'll see what they have come these invitationals as I hear they picked up another pretty good player/pitcher. I've seen them play in Grapevine and Allen last year and they are huge!

One other team here in NTX that will be making some noise is Glory Adkins(Allen). I heard they also picked up another power pitcher and with their experience and track record, they can make a run. Allen knows how to win and his team comes to play every time out.

If I was a betting man I would have my money on Glory Adkins to make some noise.

Whether it be NTX or STX it would be awesome to see a Texas team take an ASA national tournment.

I would have to agree with mrTfoo. the odds are against us. Texas teams pitch and hit just as good and sometimes better than California teams but we are lacking in DEFENSE and that is what wins championships. Until we get to that level California, who plays great DEFENSE, we will not win a National Championship. So coaches work very hard on DEFENSE and get your DD's in the correct places and you can contend. You can score 10 runs a game but if you give up 11 runs a game you still lose.
