CIF Mandatory Headgear for Pitcher/IF

by Mr. Wonderful » Fri Feb 04, 2011 9:52 pm

Is there any further update to this?

* CIF will propose to the NFHS Baseball and Softball Rules Committees that they develop standards for protective headgear for baseball and softball pitchers, defensive infielders and base coaches in 2012.

* For the 2011 season, CIF will encourage member schools to voluntarily require protective headgear for baseball and softball pitchers, defensive infielders as allowed by NFHS rules, and base coaches.

* CIF will consider making these protective headgear provisions mandatory for California Schools by 2012.

I hadn't seen this, and hope it doesn't happen, at least for infuriates. I changed my mind about pitchers lastbyear. One of my former playersbhad a rocket hit back at her during a college game. Could have killed her. She is a great defensive player, and she had no chance at touching that ball. If I can find the link to the video I will put it up.
It actually brought tears to my eyes watching it.

My daughter had her left side of her face shattered while pitching, it is very dangerous they should wear a mask, but when it happend they didn't have the masks, now my younger daughter pitches and she hates wearing the mask she says it gets in the way, I try to make her wear it but she wont. Even after her sisters accident I still can't convice her. My daughter went through a whole year of therapy she had bleeding in the brain and lots reablitation, but she is fine now thank god. Maybe this is a good thing if they make it manditory

go to this link and watch the video and show it to your daughter, it may change her mind about the mask. By the way, this kid was an outstanding defensive pitcher and she had zero chance to defend herself.

 I have seeing few girls been hit, I don't understand why does ignorant umpires don't stop the game immediately, the girl is hit they continue the game while the girl was in pain

I have daughter who pitches and she doesn't want to wear a mask, today I went all over the Internet to collect more information an videos to show her how dangerous is to be a pitcher. Not just the pitchers should wear a mask the whole infield should wear one too.

Spectators should be required to wear hard hats.
And muzzles.
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

Note that many more lives would be saved, and injuries alleviated, if front, side, and top airbags were mandatory in cars, rather than optional. Cars themselves should be manufactured using softer materials.
You could solve the entire problem by making everyone walk.

And the world would be a safer place if there were only Americans in it. And Canadiens I suppose. They're pretty harmless. And Swiss. Oh, and lingerie models.

In fact, if walking doesn't catch on, cars should be made of lingerie models. Imagine starting every day in one of those. :)

I don't understand how they allow you to have a picture like that, this place supposed to be a friendly decent softball community no a place where you can have does kind of pictures and talk about different things that are not related it to the topic, Kids come and look around to find teams to play and find the latest news in softball. SICK  THINK IN YOUR CHILDREN.
