SLOW PITCH BAT USED FOR FAST PITCH?

by fastpitchsofty » Thu Jan 27, 2011 11:09 pm

Just wondering, does Worth Mutant make a fastpitch bat? I am not sure, but, it looked very close to this bat?? If they don't, is it legal to use a slow pitch bat for fast pitch (high school or travel)?
The reason why I"m asking, I saw a girl swinging this bat with amazing pop.

Only time ever seen them used was Lakewood Firecrackers and most of them could handle the -7 or -6. Odd sound but ball flew.

These bats are in high demand in the Slow Pitch leagues.
SHAVED AROUND 1 or 2 oz's.

Had a girl use a Demarini "The One" last year against DD team. 2 homers that are probably still in orbit, base hits were so hot to handle for IF it was crazy. Wouldnt want one to come straight back to the pitcher with one of those!

The testing used to be the same but i know they meaning asa slow pitch have been experimenting with compression along with bat speed generated due to the end load of a bat so manufacturers toy with how far down the barrel to put the weight. "Fastpitch" bats generally have the weight near the handle of the bat where as slow pitch bats are usually have a smaller barrel which creates less of a sweet spot but more endload so when the ball does con ect with the barrel it goes a long way. Also if the palyer uses a usssa bat only not asa bat since technically would be legal since we do not run an asa schedule here in socal so the bat would be a 100+mph where a asa bat is i believe 98 or 95mph bat.
I also would think the test would slightly be different since the fastpitch ball has raised seems and and i believe different compression.
