Our TD is in the home stretch as far as getting the max number of teams signed up, I'm pretty excited about the potential competition so far. Our next step is to solidify a format and get some rules set in stone.

Most likely we're going to have the format set up with meaningful pool games, then go into either a large single elim brkt, or a smaller double elim. All this is weighing on how many teams we have per age group. For a large group wanting double elim, the round robin pool is virtually undoable. So still some things for us to work out.

Your feedback would be helpful, while we cannot please everyone, we would still like to consider all options.

Do a 4gg(2 pool in double elimination) With all the good teams that plan to show up i think double elimination would be the best way to go,That way if you have a bad game you can battle back

Still no answer on 40' or 43' for the 14's?

14U Coaches what is your preference? Surely the Texas teams want 43 since you are all playing pretty much all 16's leading up to this tourn.

I'm considering the round robin pool so that teams get as many "meaningful" games as possible. You see 4-5 top pitchers guaranteed as opposed to 2 pool pitchers and then 2 brkt level pitchers. Traveling all that way to potentially play only 2 quality games doesnt seem too appealing to me. Single elim is tough, but it does guarantee 5 or 6 competitive games. Thats my dilemma.

Double elim brkt is also possible after round robin pool, but you'd hafta finish at the top of your pool and the tourney ends even later on Sunday.

I just think if we are paying $400(if you place its not a big issue) and traveling on a regular weekend and with all the talent that is going to be there the more games the better, and i dont know about everyone else but we throw the best pitcher that will give us the chance to win,and in a tournament like this one you wont have a chance to just throw a pool play pitcher and win games...Not all that bad if you live in Texas but i know the ones that will be coming from elsewhere want to get alot of games in vs the tough competition,so you wont have a choice but to throw good pitchers, and dbl elimination gives you a better chance to win it if you have an off game or out played in a game but with single elimination your done...Just my 2 cents not that it matters...We will be there either way............Any word on 40 or 43ft yet?(wont affect us but curious)

TD is working w/ the 14Us trying to hash the pitching distance out. Its a tough deal, if all sanctioning bodies would agree on something it'd make it much easier on us. Thankfully we're still 10Us and I don't hafta worry w/ it, it seems to be one of our TDs biggest headaches right now.

I would have to agree with Lethal and say make it 43ft...All the teams that are coming are very good teams and will most likely play alot of 16u this year so playing at 43ft shouldnt hurt them...Im sure even if they are used to playing at 40ft the good teams will accept the challenge and play at 43ft...

We plan to have 15 teams in 4 different age groups. 2000's, 99's, 98's and the fourth still up for debate, either 14U's or '01's. I need everyone's opinions as to how to make this event one for the ages. Also I need some help w/ some of the teams to invite, not only TX teams either. We're looking for the best of the best, in all age groups.

Lets see what we can stir up.

Thnx,

Where are all the Dallas-Fort Worth teams on the 99 side?...Do they not fit into the "best of the best" group?
