10u Shake Up's?

Same OLD story with Hot Wheels & everyone like him. WHERE in my Entry Post or 10 ever mention ANYTHING about practicing, working out our daughters that would change the topic into the same old tired line "Learn from my mistakes, we have been there, don't burn them out you crazy 10u parent".

I bet if I put up a post right now about what should my 10u eat before a game, the conversation would turn into the same OLD line "From my experience you are burning her out with granola bars & Gatorade and your a crazy parent. Listen to me, I'm the Yoda of softball".

READ the ENTRY and reply to that not give us your same OLD line and disrespect the 10u's with your Barbie statements! What I can take away from all this is that it's o.k for all other divisions to talk about their happenings but when 10u does it it's a crime. This is a softball forum and my ENTRY does not call or ask for your advice but if it did I would gladly accept it as I have in the past.

Go find another tourney to work on since you have nothing better to do but criticize and keep on taking the 10u's money. WORD!!! (Used by permission from the wise Spoken Word)

Since the softball gods have blessed us with their prescence.May I ask ol mighty Hotwheels what must we look for in a softball player to identify their worthiness to be apart of your mighty travelball? your humble freshmen follower.

When you folks explain to your kids why you think they should do something, do you consider yourselves to be a "God"? How about when you are trying to mentor a less experienced coworker? And how would you feel if the person you were trying to help responded by referring to you as God?

This is not aimed at anyone in particular, nor is an expression of support for any individual. It just be a general observation that popped into my squirrelly brain.

Not seen in December a lot of "looking for players" posts in 10u other than the usual suspects or heard about any major movements. Have any teams really had any major shake up's or roster movement? Have any teams improved from their fall roster or do most teams think that the team they have now has what it takes to be National Champions.

This is because 10U is too young for travel...Shake up's??? Didn't you just join up on a travel team? Shake up's...What??? Did Janie take a Barbie from Suzie's house so now she is leaving the team? Ahhhhhh, what do I know anyways?

Hot Wheels, I typically agree with your insight and experience, but here I think you off. Playing 10u travel is not a mistake for all players, as you state. There are many good examples of players that started in 10's and are now still happily playing at the college level. Look at some of Campbell's teams over the years that have grown from 10's to college is impressive. Parents need to make sure their daughters have balance in their life and not treat 10u as if it is life or death importance. As with any activity, some girls are ready at 10 where as others should probably wait a bit.

There is going to be 10u TB and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Wouldn't it be wiser to give advice on the experience that some of you have based on the mistakes that you feel you made rather than try and humiliate all the 10u parents everytime they post? That is to say, if you were ever a 10u TB parent. I know that looking back at the 10u years, there is nothing that I would do different other than the way I acted sometimes. I wouldn't trade my DD's 10u years for anything and I don't think she would either. Everything is so serious now with the college exposure, nationals, and etc....But I have learned to keep my mouth shut a lot more and that is thanks to the DD's younger years and looking back at how foolish I acted so that it doesn't happen now. I would like to think that I am the wiser now.

The mistakes that you might have made are learning curves for you and just like you had the right to make them, the 10u parents today have those same rights.
The battle of getting there is just as important as the battle of being there IMO. So if you really care about the 10u kids and you are truly trying to help them and not just attempting to prove that you have been there and done that (which I believe is the case most of the time), then try giving a little insightful advice rather than looking down your nose at them. JMO for what it is worth.
