Texas ASA is just out of touch

From what I have been told, the date for the ASA Regional has been changed from June 3-5. I don't know the exact date but most likely it will be combined Gold Regional at Dallas. That would give Dallas six berths to Gold Nationals.

If true that would be good. But until I see it posted on the websites, I will stand by my post.

Looks like ASA nationals made it official. ASA Gold will be July 24-30, 2010, in San Diego. http://www.asasoftball.com/about/getStory.asp?nid=2245

Of course, everyone has known this for weeks. Now let's see what they do with the ASA Gold Regional in Killeen now that Premier North Texas threw gas on the fire and goes head-to-head with ASA Gold Hall of Fame. Let's see who Mr. Cobb decides to take on head-to-head: Premier Houston, ASA Marietta, ASA Baton Rouge, ASA Dallas Regioinal, ASA OKC, NFCA Impact Gold Showcase. My money is that he sets it the only "open" weekend on July 3-4 and conflicts with Boulder Independence Day/Colorado Fireworks/Triple Crown Sparkler because he doesn't know any better.

Should make for an interesting summer.

So ASA decides to set its ASA Gold regional qualifier head-to-head against the Premier Qualiifier on June 3-5, 2011 on arguably the worst weekend of the year for select softball.

I can understand Premier's choice of this weekend because they were trying not to compete with ASA, but now that the gloves off apparently, why wouldn't both organizations choose a weekend that is not in direct conflict with the Texas high school softball playoffs and the vast majority of high school graduations?

Either way, with the Premier Qualifiers in direct conflict with ASA Gold Regionals and ASA Gold Hall of Fame, I suppose we'll find out this year whether Texas/Oklahoma teams have jumped on the Premier bandwagon.
