12U ASA A Nationals

I am sure you know who I was referring to. And if those big girls are 96's, I hope they stay and play their ball in-state because they definitely have some great talent. By the way, since you are familiar with the two teams, what Glory team was that exactly? I think there are two Glory camps in the Metroplex (Adkins: 14u Travers, 14u Turkoly, 14u Holinsworth or Shelton). Great team and have not doubt they would have competed very well in the 16U bracket. They had some nasty pitchers (nasty meaning good for those that like to nit pick).

I would assume they were at minimum 96's, but by rule, I believe you can also play 95's in the 14U bracket of the tournament. So not saying there were any 95's on that team and that is why I say at minimum. But they were big!

Neither one of those teams has 95s. And Fusion is big? Really? :?

I know, just poking fun. Fusion has some really small girls. That was the Adkins camp that was there.

It sounds like we need one big official state championship tournament. An end all be all for who the best is and for bragging rights for an entire year.

It would have to be a neutral site. Somewhere in the middle part of Texas, so all could attend, with less burdens on the families. Maybe a big tournment in June, before Nationals.
It does sound like a great idea with bragging rights involved.

So your saying Midland is out
College Station would be a good spot. txfastpitch could move his money tournament there, that one is getting bigger and stronger every year. It would take a hell of an effort to pull off a true state championship tournament but I do think it would generate a lot of interests. What would you guys consider the measuring stick the way the system is now? The team that finished the highest in ASA nationals is the best team in Texas? That seems to be the only way in my mind to judge it currently.

That could be debated from, THE LUCK OF THE DRAW, which some teams might use as an excuse. The best is head to head competition. Take top 10 from stx and top 10 from ntx. 20 team tournment. Winner with bragging rights for a year. Set a weekend and a place and play some softball. Some td could make some money off that one.

If someone is good friends with Greg Hutchingson he has ties with College Station City Parks and Rec. He might be able to get a date. I will check with a good friend of mine that still has ties with Men's softball and see what I can come up with. I have been off the Men's circuit for about 6 years and I'm out of touch with people. Greg use to run a BIG Budwieser tournament every year in March and got both the Bryan and College station fields. Like I said I will pull some strings and see what I can come up with.

Would anyone be interested in an "Organizational Challenge Tournament"? Using an area where several complexes are in proximity. Host a tournament where the organizations bring in a team from as many age groups as they support. Highest winning percentage is awarded the Organizational Challenge Championship... Maybe to kick it off bring 4 Houston Orgs, 4 DFW Orgs, and 4 orgs from the rest of the state (I-35 corridor from Waco to San Antonio). Name a champ in each age bracket and bragging rights for the strongest organization in Texas top to bottom. If more organizations show interest then expand the tournament accordingly. I know Northern DFW could host such a tournament with Grapevine, Southlake, Keller, and North Richland Hills within a 15-20 mile radius all these fields are available for just such a high profile event. Plenty of hotels and amenities in this area next to DFW airport, as well. Could expand more and incorporate our neighbors from the North including OK organizations too. This would be a great prep to everyone's run for Nationals in the summer months.
