Texas Glory Adkins - Announcement

So is Glory Elliott team folding, or will they continue to play as a 14U team. Heard today that his two asst coaches Fultz and another have been named as the coaches for the Texas Glory 16U Adkins team.

If true I guess the plan will be to take a roster that was depleted of it top players after the spring season last year, and rebuild with a few coaches kids and possibly what is left of the Fusion roster.

We will hold tryouts for our 16-U team on January 24th in McKinney at the TCA - Frozen Ropes facility. The 16-U Adkins team will conduct a full tryout and will select the players that are best prepared to compete at this level and that have the potential to move to 18 Gold in the very near future. Oh...is the Fusion 16U roster broken up? I've been a good boy and haven't been keeping up lately. We're on the team, and other than 1 player, I haven't heard anything. Please enlighten me, I hate to be out of the loop. Especially if it could negatively affect my 14 y/o kid. Thanks.

Dan is back and ready to gather up alot of the talent in the area. Teamed with his good friend Strickland they will once again have a great team. They have a good history. Dan appears to be the organizer and lead man that can sell you anything --I mean that in a positive way -- for the most part. Kyle has the intensity that should be saved for baseball but he uses it in softball. It has worked when he has an assistant that can be the good cop. Be ware of his bark because he at times will bite.

The concerns are that they have very little loyalty. I have heard stories that you are as good as your last play or at bat. Of course that is being very sarcastic. What they do is continue to bring in new players thoughout the year and in order to improve. That is good for the winning record for the team but may result in negative feelings among the players -- or at least the odd girl out. Now did not hear Shelton did something like this last year during the stretch run? Will the grass be greener??

They other problem is that in order to bring new talent in during the year, they come from other teams. How -- usually they scout your team and snatch your great players. The Glory history and Dans' skilled salemenship has them jumping ship. I have seen it and experienced it and had him and other Glory guys admit to it. Now I can't comment on Shelton personally so i won't. Now Kyle likes the same phylosophy -- at least he is on board with the idea. With all that being said most coaches will do the same thing -- up grade that is -- but do they scout and make calls to your players during the season?

It is nice to see that the plan now is to gather up the talent on this new 16u team and have them feed into the 18 gold team in the future. This will indicate they plan to do some skills coaching instead of placing already highly skilled players on a team and managing the game. Now I know this is as important as anything else. Question is how many players will he(they) make the 18u gold promise too and how many promises will he(they) keep?

With all theseis good and bad comments above - the bottom line for the girls is for them to enjoy the game and to get players scholarships to college. Now if this is the way to do it then so be it. BB, Glory, Elite, Rapid Fire, Travelars and whoever else get to work. There are thousands of girls out there loving the game and they all can not end up on these teams. But it would be nice for some ethics and loyalty to be included in all it.



Sorry for leaving your guys out Avengers and Fusion. I am sure you have some of the same tactics.

I can appreciate your observations although many of them are wrong. Loyalty is what I would consider one of my strongest positions. I am a very loyal person and those around me are as well. When you talk about upgrading talent in the middle of seasons and all, give specifics. Look back to the last team I coached, the players that graduated in 06 and 07...I will help you here

These are the kids that were on my final rosters, I think you can establish a pretty good pattern of loyalty on both sides here. When we commit to a player, we are there for the long haul. Same thing with coaches. Look at the coaches around me. They are all the longest tenured coaches within Texas Glory.

You are correct in your observation that Kyle and I will assemble talent on our 14-U and 16-U teams that will feed into our gold team. When players are ready to make that jump, we will move them regardless of age or grade. No hidden agendas here, we are here to assemble the top talent, play the top teams, qualify for ASA and Gold Nationals and to get each and every player into college where they can contribute to the program. It is not a fundraiser, not a source of income and not a hobby...it is a passion and something we love doing.

Some of these kids are on other team sites as well (ie Batbusters)
My guess is they played for Dan before the "split" OR he is referring to his team as both his actual team and what is now the "Shelton" team.

I mean, he's got Shelton's kid on that list. It's a little misleading as it appears as though she played for him from 10U until she went to college. There are several other examples of girls that never wore cursive letters on their jersey there too.

My daughter plays for a 16u Glory team and is being charged by her coach for hitting lessons.
