WORST SHOWCASE EVER----- POWER SURGE16U

by softballdaddy » Sun Oct 24, 2010 8:17 pm

I was watching a game between Power Surge, and I think Thunder..I'm not sure what happend with the other team, I just know the way they came off to everybody watching. Anyways, the parent's on the Power Surge side were rude, and saying things they shouldn't. You would think that the hosting team and parent's, would treat parent's like guests... nope!!!! I heard this wasn't the first time. Our team was promised college coaches would be there(not expecting UCLA) and traveled a long distance. This was a glorifed friendly selling t-shirts . Am I alone?? I'm not trying to bash an organization, I just feel people should know what's up...

Concerned Parent!!

Let me get this straight...you are a little fuzzy on who was playing, you're not sure what happened with the other team, but you know the way they came off to everybody watching and the parents were saying things they shouldn't, even though you aren't sure what it was about. Not too bad for a first post. Were you whining there too, and that's why those nasty old parents were rude to you?

Since when is it a "Host" team's job to make sure YOUR team has College coaches in attendance??? Isn't that your daughter's job?...And YOUR coaches job????...Just asking!

I thought the Power Surge org did a great job getting their fields in ready condition considering all the rain they had during the week. Plus after the down pour on Saturday, they were able to relocate some of the games. From what I heard, almost all the games were played especially for the teams that travelled a great distance.

As far as college coaches attending, I saw more watching on Saturday than the previous weekends "showcase". I'm pretty sure no one promised anyone that colleges would attend. That responsiblility is on the player/coach.

I think its funny how your concerned about how rude a team or parents are. If you know So Cal teams(generalizing here), they expect a lot out of their players. I have been there enough to know that yelling by coaches and just plain rudeness is pretty common. Never bothered me really as it didnt concern me or my daughter what they did. Be a NorCal team that beats a So Cal team and watch them come unglued! :D
They are the standard that we all try to get to or else we wouldnt travel all the way down there to compete, right? So just beat them and move on.....
College coaches are a tough draw at 16's. You get a few who trickle in but nothing overwhelming. Its up to your kid to write to them, your coaches to invite them out, and then if the TD can invite them, you've done all you can do. If the weather is sh*tty you cant expect them to come out.

Are you seriously defending PS without being their? If you were there - I'm sure you'd agree! The Power Surge coaches and the parents were acting poorly in two of their games at this event.
Grown adults, acting like this - AT A SOFTBALL GAME, is hysterical. I thought I was at a Raiders game!
Great Examples for our youth!

On a lighter note. A Bronco fan called into Norcal's #1 Sportstalk station to thank the Raider Fans especially Darth Raider for not mauling his 7 yr old son dressed in all Bronco gear when he strayed away. Darth said.."your kids got cajones coming in here with all that gear on.

Watch had it right..Beatem and move on. It works no matter what part of the country your in let alone L.A.
