In the past couple of months, I attended several” college look” tournaments in north Texas and I must say I was disappointed. I am a scout for a D1 school and I am looking for quality players.
Many players demonstrated natural ability, but have major flaws in hitting. Dipping, foot work, pitch recognition and “the baseball swing” are difficult to work out at the college level. I would advise players interested in a D1 school, to find a professional hitting and fielding coach that has either played college ball, or has worked with a college program. Even then, professional instruction can only get you so far, players must take what they learn and practice, practice, practice.
Before I get pummeled by the “hey bucket crowd”, keep in mind we share a common goal.
