Tournament Options?

"that place" is owned by the city or county now. You do know that... right?

They cant puts nets up at Arnaiz because they spent all their $$ putting up plastic around all those fences so you cant see the games! That way they make sure they get your four dollars.
Most people would pay the $4.00 anyways, just nice to go sit out on the grass inbetween games and have some lunch or get some shade. Nice when we are playing at Louis because we can sit out on the grass and watch. Bad side to Loius is the nieghborhood! Two car windows got smashed in when the RR Gold put on their showcase, and that there was probably more.

These tournaments will continue to take place until teams, parents and player say enough and they start attending other tournaments. Many organizations have tried to start tourney's and have been locked out by the control that the Grapettes and R & R Gold have on the ASA Board in Stockton. The Grapettes have gone as far as starting another organization to hold tournaments under another name. I have talked with many coaches about these issues and nothing will happen until they stop attending these tournaments. I have witnessed the decline in the Grapettes & R&R tourny's this winter and see teams attending friendlies/tournaments up in Sacramento and Reno.

So the decision is up to those of you that read and write on this message board to make a change or continue to attend tournaments that have no field preps, stray balls, and just terrible fields.

Many have talked about trying to do tourneys but "no" one or group has really stepped up to honestly try to host one. So Wilson when you speak you should know the facts also. There is no lockout control by the Grapettes on the ASA board in Stockton and RR Gold is an IFA affiliation and has absolutely nothing to do with & has no authority within the ASA board. The other Organization "BRATS" you speak of is alright as well. BTW they do reinvest $$ in the teams that play in their tourneys & events. Once each year different groups have a chance to do tourneys for the upcoming year and they are frankly not ready for the commitment it takes.

While I truly understand the frustration that some may have attending these events, they have been like that for awhile, but not in all cases. I have routinely seen the same field crew working the events that I frequently attend whether it's Grapes or RR Gold. I have been pleased with the way these 4 to 6 gentlemen have worked their asses off, just to make it playable. As a matter of fact I always shake their hands and thank them for there help.

So while the $4.00 and crazy fields may not be appealing to some, it is what it is. Change has to be a real solution and not just a conversation of blog documentation.

BTW what other "ASA" tournaments are there in Nor Cal that matter............... :?

The Grapette people ARE THE ASA BOARD! no one is allowed to get a tourney(unless it is a weekend no one wants) just ask the AASA group.
Look, they put on good tournaments. Nobody has a problem the way they are run, they just need put some money back into the fields. They are city fields but if teams boycott they would some how find a way to fix them. It is all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Who gives a crap if it is ASA, USSSA,IFA or NSA? Draw the best teams and give them a nice place to play and everyone will be happy. Oh yeah, train the umpires and make them accountable for their actions.

Unfortunately the Grapettes people are not the board. Anybody can bid for a tourney on any weekend even on the one's nobody wants. I also don't need to ask the AASA Org anything "trust me". Do you even know if they have ever tried to work the CITY fields......my friend you better check with your local city maintenance union first before speaking. BTW have you ever been to a GSJSA board meeting? With this enthusiasm you have for change you should get involved?! ;)

Actually there are alot of people & teams who care for ASA. "The Best Teams". Outside of IFA in Nor Cal, I haven't seen alot of the "best teams" sprinting or clamoring to enter their teams into the other affiliations you mentioned above. Rainbow Fields (NSA) is a great place with nice manicured fields. Big League Dreams (USSSA) is an outstanding establishment/place to watch games & socialize. Sacramento Complex (NSA) is pretty cool. Tracy Sports Complex (USSSA) is nice when they have tourneys. However I don't see the "best teams" scurrying to get into their tourneys. These are all nice places......oh yeah they charge $$ to get in as well. So who gives a crap if its ASA, well check the tourney entries each week and you get your answer :) ;)

As for the "Blues" send your complaint to the local umpire associations director. Tournament directors have "zero" influence with who they get!!

Still the last Grapettes tourney was terrible.....If they can't nmaintain their own fields because fo the city then change the venue and don't charge. The Lodi tourney was garbage for the 12's......Field watered and chalked once a day.

"Tournament directors have "zero" influence with who they get!!"

Might want to double-check with Mr RnR Gold about that before you're so certain...
