Does anyone know if it was the same TX Impact team that finished 4th in GA?

There were 6 or 7 players that went to Georgia and to Premier.

Friends, colleagues and softball fans,

My ruling in Sunday's game was incorrect. From my angle, while in pursuit of the ball, the centerfielder knocked the fence down while jumping for the ball. While in flight, the player contacted the fence with her right foot before catching the ball. Under NFHS rules, contacting the fence while it is still on its way down in considered to be in live ball territory. This should have been ruled a catch. I was wrong.

I am saddened to think that this decision on my part has become the focus of this event. This past week, the best ballplayers and best teams in the country showed us some incredible softball. The championship game should have been a display of the best of the best athletes competing at the highest level. It should not have been determined by the incorrect descision of an umpire. The play of Brittany Clopton was of the highest order, and I denied her that privledge.

I apologize to the fans, participants and staff of the SoCal Athletics and the Impact Gold along with the event organizers. This event should have been about them, not about the umpires. Mr. Jackson and the rest of the Impact Gold staff should be applauded for their handling of the situation.

This is exactly why I love you so much. You ARE and always will be one of the best umpires we have ever had and in all the years you worked my games, or I watched you umpire, you were excellent. You didn't have to admit you were wrong and this is just another example of why you are so awesome; I wish more umpires were like you.

Actually because of a bonehead call by Blue then So Cal Athletics and Tx Impact should be called CO-Champions. Neither team won the game period.

The So Cal Athletics won the Championship and umpire calls are part of the game. Can you sit here with a straight face and say you've never felt, in all of your years in softball, that a call did not make or break the outcome of the tournament? I bet every coach experienced a questionable call that affected the outcome of a game just this spring season (winning or losing because of the call). How many NFL, NBA, or MLB plyers/coaches are fined because they felt a call was wrong?

This year in ILLINOIS and TEXAS there were many questionable calls so it isn't just a "So Cal" thing...bad calls happen to EVERYONE, in every division, and sometimes change the game, whether it be to advance in the winners bracket, go down into the losers, or to in a National Championship game...

PS. Win or lose, most girls play travel softball to have fun and earn money towards their education. With those goals in sight, ESPN/RISE did their thing and the most important people came to watch: the college coaches. Was there a list for 18Gold this year of colleges that attended? Can someone point me to that post if it is up?

So you are saying that Rico's Team doesn’t have any depth?
