The Dallas Donkeys are going "Country"!!!!

I will be the first to tell you that I was highly critical of this whole Donkey's thing when the messages began quite some time ago. What I will now tell you is that from what I saw in person this weekend, they would give most NTX "A" teams a run for their money. This challenge could never happen though because they are just a pick-up team with players from '96 Diamonds, BB Rhine, etc.... The didn't have a "A" quality players from top to bottom but their 2 pitchers and catcher alone would be sufficient to compete against the best NTX would have to offer.

Along those same lines, I would take that OK Burn team and put them up against the best TX has to offer, regardless of where they call home.

Despite the comments that I am sure will follow this post, I would say that any future endeavours by the Donkey's would be met with a thumbs up from my corner because at the end of the day, it's all about the girls and hitting the dirt trying to better themselves.

My daughter was one of the pitchers this weekend along with Big D from Diamonds. What a wonderful group of girls! These girls are wonderful young ladies and athletes and the parents are first class people. They really have a lot of fun playing together on the Donkeys. Hats off to Joe and Mike for putting this thing together. It was a blast. We had a great run. I can't wait for the next Donkey corral.

I'm curious as to who these "A" teams are that you think Burn or Donkeys could hang with. Fusion? Glory? D-Bat? Diamonds? I don't care how good your players are or where they come from. Just throwing a team together, there is no way they could hang with the big boys.

Please don't misunderstand me here, all I'm saying is that the Donkey team is good enough to play in a true "A" tourney and they play well enough to say that they belong.

To give you a better answer than that, I would say the OK Burn team could compete with any of the teams that you listed. Heck, we saw the coach pull a pitcher that had a no hitter but gave up 2 walks.

As long as we live in Texas I will always root for the Texas teams so let's not get into a "we are better than them" debate. The point to my initial post was to let the haters out there know that maybe we have this Donkey team wrong. Sure, perhaps their spokesperson isn't the best at expressing himself on a message board but I saw nothing but class from that team all weekend.

The actions of 1 person, whether it be fair or not, are enough to bring down a whole organization and based on that; I would be of the opinion that this whole Donkeys thing is a classless joke. They are a complete pick-up team and making a mockery of organized softball. Please keep having your fun looking like a complete tool on hb.com. Regardless of how you fare in McKinney, your team is a complete joke and shame on your for making your girls look like a bunch of jerks also.

Thanks for the kind words and change of heart. All we've ever been about is raising some money to help girls have some fun doing what they love. It's hard getting girls who haven't played with each other to come together and gel as a team, but these girls did it. They played tough and they were rewarded with 11 games of softball. Not only did these girls get 2 fun filled days, but I saw some phone numbers being exchanged afterwards so it looks like some new friends were made too. I know we, (the coaches), have some fun with you sensitive types online, but at the end of the day it's all about these girls having a good time, making new friends, and learning life lessons.

For the record we had 1 player from the Diamonds and zero from Batbusters Rhine. What we did have though was a group of class act girls that played their hearts out. In my book, I did have "A" players from top to bottom and I'd be honored to coach each and every one of them again.

As for Burn, they are a class act as well. Mike's done a tremendous job with those girls. I wish them the best of luck in the future and hope to see them on the dirt again sometime soon.

My bad on the BB Rhine comment, I thought the big gal behind the plate was from them. Nonetheless, good job. Sometimes we get caught up in the hysteria of these boards and when you add in a very bad days(s), stupid things are said.

You are all fools. This is exactly what the "donkeys" want. They want you to fall into their trap and you have. They are a disgrace and I can guarantee they won't last long even in this "B ballers dream." There are a few pickups on 3 of those teams that alone will handle those bunch of A$$ES. Best way to handle these jokes of "coaches" is to ignore them.

I guess you missed the news, those pickups you mentioned from three of those teams in Greenville.
I think we sent them home on Sunday for breakfast!
Oh, yes and our coaching must not be to bad, no matter what kind of tournaments you play in.
How many teams can say, they played in 3 tournaments this year and played in the championship game each time!
I won't even mention that 7 of our 10 players are all still 12U eligible in this 14U.

Sooooo....Let me see if I've got this straight.
You pick up players from other teams and you (as in the coaches) turn them into winners as if they are not on a winning team already. That is pretty cocky. Don't you think?

I do agree that the Donkey parents and players are classy people. At least the ones I talked to and was around this weekend.

Yes, your right that is a little cocky!
The girls that play for the Donkeys are "winners" and usually come from winning organizations.

However, this year we have had a number of girls who never made it to a championship game with thier own team, according to thier parents.

Many are called but only a few can say they are "DONKEYS" and proud of it!
