what is going on in IN?

by clayface74 » Fri Jul 16, 2010 10:53 am

So....what is going on with your DD current team at the end of July? Breaking up, moving up, loosing a couple and reloading, or forming new all together? Or what is going on with some of the teams you are familiar with? Looks like a lot of new teams forming and others that have been around a while moving up.

I am starting a new 14U "b" team. DD played on a 12U that folded in April. She filled in a couple weekends with others. The perfect situation presented itself but there is no perfect in the real world. I was approached by a number of parents from a 14u team that will be folding about coaching this new team and here we are! In Hartford City there is not much option unless you are willing to drive 1.5 hours. A year ago yes i would have....newly unemployed mom said no.

Whats happening in your world?

14u 'B"........that's an excuse for "ballers" to extend their all star season..get serious, even if it means you can't coach your daughter..!!

Thanks for your support. I appreciate your positive attitude and the way you have presented yourself in the winners circle of life. When I posted this thread I had every intention of putting 14U"A" but I had fear in my heart that the jag1 Jaguars may be trolling the board and may challenge my yet to be formed team to a diamond duel. I guess I should have posted that I was going to form a 14U gold team, that would only accept "applications" from those serious about a D1 scholarships to either the elite Pac10 or SEC programs and must have letter of intent on hand.

Now on a serious note. I am forming a 14U B team. In my opinion it alows us to play A or B ball and also shows that I am MATURE enough to respect the "A" status some programs have EARNED. I have watched some A teams this past year that have no business playing A ball or calling themselves A teams. I do not want to be the focus of another "So many A teams are diluting the pool" threads. What is so "Rec Ball" about that?

This thread was intended to draw discussion about what was going on in the state and hopefully create discussion. Instead we have B ball bashing in its ugliest form.....Whats up with that? I would much rather not coach my daughter. My hopes for her are to play A ball, but not at the cost of my integrity or the rest of my family's. Unfortunately the options are limited here by not only my location but also my financial situation... You sea up hear n thes parts aint much sfbal learnin optunitys fur thu yungins....

So I ask you to please think before you speak and understand that by the numbers this area is not the softball travel organization Meca that Indy is becoming. Everyone has their own reasons for what they choose to do and how they choose to do it. As I stated before there is no "perfect" in this real world we live in.

Thanks for your support and I hope to play you or your dd's team in the future....I do believe that playing the best is a honor!

"B" ball is not what it used to be.

There are a bunch of very good players that play on B teams.

Two girls from my area played on "B" teams through their career up to 16B. Their team competed against A teams as well as B teams.

They made the jump to 18 Gold after 16B and 1 got a scholarship from an SEC School and the other from a Big 12 School.

I ve been listening to a number of parents and girls grumbling over the extensive travel, cost, and wear and tear caused by playing A ball. Talked to a dad tonight that is getting his kid closer to home to play to save her and his wallet from burnout. He asked if he could bring a few other girls from numerous orginaizations to tryouts...I said "of course" of course. I am in no way judging A ball or attempting to label it as anything. I love watching the girls play and am amazed by their talent! I am simply saying that B is not so bad. Do I really need to go to exposure tournaments at 13 and 14? Maybe I dont know what I dont know. I do know that there is plenty of time to get exposure at 15,16,17, 18.

A friend of mine has a son who will be a Jr this year. He is one of the areas best kept secrets. Does not show up on Rivals, or Scout and does get looks from Big10 schools and has had some interest from sec and pac10. Michigan State is hot for him. Not a blip on the radar as an incoming Jr QB. I asked dad about this....It is by design. He does not want him under the microscope yet! YET. He's 16. 6'2" 220. Throws rockets and had a 3.9 GPA. YET! Wants him to mature mentally physically and stat wise. He said he has started to accelerate in his processes. I have the utmost respect for this friend and value his opinion. If it were me the kid would already be on Oprah!

We will have a fine "B" season at 14U.........Hope to see you all at some point...I'll be the guy sweeting all over everyone in late October!! ;) Its gonna be a lot of fun!!
