The worst call in the history of baseball!

Off topic. Home for jokes and other misc. stuff.
Keep it reasonable.

This is the perfect case of why MLB needs to have some form of instant replay. What would be so hard allowing each team to have 3 challenges during the course of the game? The teams already have TVs in the dugout and they see the replay immediately and would only come out if they had a pretty decent chance of success.

It would not slow the game down, and IMO, is the easiest of any sport to have replay done. Most plays are simple out safe calls, and plays at 1st base are normally pretty simple.

Too bad for the umpire and pitcher. Pitcher had a perfect game and a chance at history, umpire will forever be known as the guy who blew it...... and he blew it on a play that wasnt really that close.

If this is in the wrong place, I apologize, but I wasnt sure where to put something a little off topic.

I guess Jim Leyland & Galarraga are not taking Spazsdad advice ...

MLB is considering over ruling the call.

Leyland showed class and probably prevented another Detroit riot like after the 84 series.

Sad thing is this is not the first time this umpire has made a bad critical call in a game! Perfect game in my book too.

Not even close to the worst call. What about 2 runners at 3rd base, both off of the bag, both tagged right in front of the ump! This guy blew the call, but after reviewing the tape admitted to his mistake. Isn't that all you can ask out of the guy? He was clearly sorry for the mistake and apologized. How many times have you seen that.? I give the man credit, bad call, let it stand, move on.

MLB is possibly going to "Review" this play. Im not sure how they can where there is no such thing for a play like this in MLB.

I hope they declare a PG.

Selig said today that the call stands. No perfect game.

Situation stinks.

But human umpires and bad calls are part of the game - always have been. If you want to kill baseball, then start reviewing every close call. The game is slow enough now. Lets not get all fired up over one bad call that has never occurred before and will likely never happen again.
