I'll probably do the last poll middle of next week with enough time to process before ASA States and the tournament results of ASA States should be the final say on the top teams !!!

What is your schedule like for this summer for SF2000 ? Are you attending ASA States ?

Just a friendly reminder to all 10U teams doing ASA STATES:

The process this year to register ASA for your championship roster is more complicated and time consuming as a lot of people are and been grumbling about. I believe the deadline to get all of that tied up including ACE certification is May 15th (in 3 days). If you plan on doing ASA States make sure you have all of your paperwork in order such as creating a login at RegisterASA.com. Create your team. Create a championship roster. Enter your players. Upload the birth certificate and head shots and get ACE Level 1 certified for your coaches. Print an Invoice and mail it.

There might be a step or two omitted so please review online @ socal-asa.com for more info.

Good luck :)

Yeah I was wondering about this. Why are there so few team registered for ASA States? So far there are only 8 teams with only 3 days left to register? I assume Firecrackers already has a birth to nationals, but where are the other teams in the top 10 like BatBusters, Bombers, Revolution and Mizuno? What am I missing, is there a reason why all So Cal team wouldn’t participate even if they weren’t expecting to go on to nationals?

Registered:
#2 So Cal Jynx 99
#4 USA Athletics
#5 Corona Eliminators
#6 Team Watley
#7 Team Anderson 99
#9 Murrieta Impact
#14 So Cal Dynasty
#15 Strike Force 00

NOT Registered:
#NR Firecrackers
#1 Orange County BatBusters 99
#3 SoCal Bombers
#8 USA Revolution
#10 SoCal Mizuno
#11 SoCal Knuckle Up
#11 SoCal Athletics 99
#13 SM Blaze
#16 VC Venom
#17 Strike Force 99
#18 Knock outs
#19 BullDogs
#20 Softball Factory
#NR SoCal Venom

We are going to Utah. Yes, we are going to play in States. It should give us a look at some really good teams. I thought there would be more teams playing in states? Is this normal?

I have heard that there are alot of teams going to TCS in Park City, UT. The top from NorCal will be there. I see jynx and some other SoCal teams are qaulified and also may be attending. Looks like it is going to be alot of fun. Does anyone know who is also looking at signing up for TCS?

Here's something to think about...

Our team manager found out, from ASA, that if we participate in States and win a birth, our team would be EXPECTED to attend ASA Nationals in Tennessee. If we chose not to attend, ASA could suspend our coaches for one year. We also heard from other sources that if we chose not to attend, there could be sanctions for our team next year including our team being banned from nationals next year.

We’re not sure if those are just threats, but now I see why teams, not intending to go on to ASA Nationals, are choosing not to attend States as a warm-up for other national tournaments

This is ASA Championship play
. So if you succeed in proceeding in championship play of course it is expected you to go to the next level of advancement (Nationals). If you just want a weekend tournament do Triple Crown. Keep in mind though that there are only 4 national berths for 10U. I expect all of the top 7 teams and FC to be there so I would expect those 4 berths to go to 4 of those 8 teams assuming what has played out at Paddy's, Fresno and MDC plays out in a couple of weeks.

This is something the Team manager should've explained as well as a conversation the parent had with the coach privately as far as goals for the team and what the family wants for their daughter. To be honest, my family is a family of 6 and being on a team going to Nationals or even Western's isn't for us, my other kids do not do softball (anymore) and isn't fair for them to get dragged along. We also went to TN on a separate vacation 3yrs ago and once was enough for us. Triple Crown however suits us very well based on the age of our kids and we're still debating on going...

Every family and team is different.

I'm not sure is normal this is a different year with the new system. Spoke to a coach 2-3 days ago that is on the 15-20 list and he was interested in attending ASA States but when he started the process he said he will give his girls off or do TCS, he was just interested in it as a regular tournament but was too much hassle. He had no aspirations nor any expectations of qualifying.

Most teams who have done Paddy's or Fresno probably have 99% of their paperwork already in as those were ASA tournaments so it might be just a matter of signing up and writing the check / sending in a payment for those teams. But, who knows !!!
