10U TOP TEAM RANKING (SOCAL) PRE-ASA STATES FINAL RANKING !

by ATD » Mon Apr 26, 2010 5:30 pm

I saw "Heavy Hitters" this weekend at the Anderson friendly. Came out of no where and they were quite IMPRESSIVE. They were bust'n up and frustrating teams left and right. I think they had a great day. Talked to a mom and that was their first friendly ever. WOW. Had the biggest 10U player I had ever seen hitting homers and she was FAST.

Watch out 10U.
Coming to a team near you...

Re: 10U TOP TEAM RANKING (SOCAL) RESULTS 4/12/2010 !!!!!

I hope "Heavy Hitters" coaches understand that if this team ends up in a ASA ALL STAR TEAM they just disqualified them selfs from All Stars.

The last day girls could have played Rec was March 31. ALL you need is one picture of your team to be sent to ASA and you are done for ALL STARS; REC teams are not allowed to play in travel ball friendlies or tournaments.

If you are staying travel good luck.!!!!

In regards to Heavy Hitters, their coach had a posting recently looking for players. One of their girls has parents who have been involved in travel with a couple of their older daughters so I'm pretty sure they know the rules about All-Stars (my DD has played for this parent a few times-we are from the same league). But I will be contacting that person today to make sure none of the girls are trying out for All-Stars. Would hate to see that All-Star team get DQ'd in tourneys because they "didn't know the rule"...Here was the post:

"looking for girls year 1999 to start a new10u travel ball team and carry it over to 12 u... looking for a strong pitchers... also infield outfield......Theres a few spots left. If intersted contact Mike @ cazaresconcrete@yahoo.com"

So it does sound like he is intending to be all travel this summer...Good luck to them!

The ASA rule was interpreted differently to me by our league president. Here is the interpretation I got. A rec ball player can not play for an outside team after March 31st, but a rec ball team could play in friendlies, as long as that rec ball team was comprised of only the players on the rec ball teams roster and no outside players participated.

Here is that ASA rule you are referring to for All-Star eligibility:

"Players who have participated on a team other than their own recreation league teams after March 31st of the current season are not eligible; (i.e. a player shall not participate with any other All-Star or travel type team, including ASA and non-ASA after March 31st) except as provided in paragraph 3 above.
NOTE: "Participate" in the above shall be defined as ~~A PLAYER TAKING PART IN A PRACTICE, PRACTICE GAME, SCHEDULED GAME OR TOURNAMENT."

Quoted from the So Cal ASA website...

I would put RR around 6th-ish and push everyone up 1 spot, I wouldn't rank them higher than CE or USA Athletics (I did see RR play @ TCS). Grapettes I would say Top 10-ish based on W/L @ Fresno.
