This weekend in DFW

by sbfan » Tue Apr 13, 2010 6:56 pm

First of all there were no Elite 14u Team in Keller this weekend. They were in Garland. Some decent 14u teams but not the strong ones. The TD broke it down with best teams in one pool the next best in the other ones and the week ones in the third based on the history of the teams, check it out. So if they did not get on base in one of those two lesser pools then select might not be for them.

14u Tournaments have been pretty week so far. In 12u you have a bunch of first year teams doing really well and the 10u seemed to have a very strong group of 2nd year teams so far.

The website for the mizuno tournament says that team with best record and next best record advance to bracket....that's top two from each pool....is this information incorrect?

i was gonna take 1 wildcard to a 4 team bracket.

we'll look at what the scheduling looks like if we take 6 and give a couple of byes. seems to be a lot of people would like to see more get through.

to me it was never about winning the thing really. i'd be happy with no bracket and 6 games against all of them. was just looking for a reason to give out tshirts or something (may have to make em burnt orange just in case uknow)

I keep staring at the weather forecast and it is depressing. No softball this weekend if the weather channel has its way. The tornament that never was. If we could do stats then we could start a fantasy softball league and create the dfw super team at each age group. Now that would lead to some exciting discussions during the rainout this weekend. What if and then what if and then what if.

Oh Marty, PLEASE get the burnt orange!! LOL!!!

If the schedule works, the 2 from each pool and 2 wildcards for a total of 8 would be a great idea. From your previous post I know field space with that many teams was tight.

It is a shame that there are not more of these types of invitationals especially in the older groups. I know there are friendlies, but again, not the same as one of these that you are doing with the best teams from all over the southern region. Most of the friendlies are 5-6 teams from DFW or Houston with maybe 1-2 that drive in. Not that that isn't good competition, but come on... Step up 12U and 14U. Where is your battle of the border invitational tournament????

Good job 10U coaches and parents for being willing to make it happen. Maybe someone can stir something up for one of these in 12's and 14's next year....

I sure hope all the teams invited actually show up. That would be a shame at this point if a team doesn't come and represent their region. It will make for some exciting games, and I am looking forward to it.

Oh......and I am all for the burnt orange too Marty!!

Burnt orange would be fine-I am sure there are some OSU fans that would take them or even wear them for halloween :)
