The answer is actually very easy! It is a buyers market.
As buyers (Players and Teams) we can and should demand that all tournaments in the DFW area are dual or multi sanctioned tournaments that way they can be posted anywhere and the teams will be able to get points for nationals and tournaments will have stronger turnouts in all age groups.
The umpires can wear whatever hat they want. The kids don't care.
The TD's will make money for their parks again and we can show the rest of the state and country that playing ball is what matters not the Associations ego's.

Let your local TD's know your opinion as a Team and the girls will win.

It's our choice not theirs.

Joe are you talking about ASA or VTD? I'm not sure which. Look lets be adults here and admit that your whole beef with ASA in really just based on Glenn and FWASA. Thats like saying I am never going to eat at any Burger King because the one in your neighborhood you dont like.

Does ASA have flaws? Yes! Is VTD doing some good things for NTX softball? Yes! But here is the real difference between the two in NTX. Where are the areas very best teams going to play most of their qualifying tournaments this Spring and Summer? Answer is ASA. Do you really think the very best '00-'96 teams are going to play in a "national tournament" that has yet to decide what to call it? Granted, there are only a handful of teams in each age division that play at the highest level, but I would bet all of those teams are going to play ASA tournaments in the late Spring and Summer. So yes, because there are only a handful of truly elite teams, they will play wherever there are tournaments, regardless of organization, because they need the work and preparation. But come "the real season" they will all be playing ASA.

In my own opinion, this is somewhat like the whole NFL vs USFL situation. Yes there were and are flaws with the NFL so the USFL came along to buck the system, offer a different product and compete with the NFL. But in the end, the USFL could not compete with the NFL because the very best players and teams competed in the NFL. However, I do think the VTD will produce a more viable product in NTX softball in the long run. But we are only talking about NTX. Tell me Joe, how is VTD doing across other parts of the state or country for that matter? I would love to hear from you regarding those tournament stats.

TD's and association's egos aside...they don't decide dual sanctioning with ASA....

Parks making money? Some are doing fine while others are standing around wondering what happened to the good old days? You know...the days when ASA decided when and where we played.

Get your ASA reps to go along with your plan and it'll get done. I'll bet some coin that TDs would welcome dual sanctioning. Your Dallas and FW Metyro ASA JO's are your mssing links to peace and harmony in the NTX softball world.

All I know is that a bunch of kids are playing ball...and THAT choice is no longer in the hands of Glen, Dave, Joe, you or anyone else. As Yellowballs has so aptly pointed out...in the end, the consumer should choose where they play, when they play and how much it will cost. VTD has simply expanded the choices and so far, the consumer seems to happy with those choices.

"Real Season"? That would be when DD's college of choice writes her a check to play. That would be the "real season" starts.

Don't know and care how VTD does anywhere else. For a going concern less than a year old, I would guess that they're not doing too bad. The addition of PGF has to be considered a "blow" to their marketing plan...don't ya think!!!

I do agree with you on the "real season" comment. You are 100% correct about that and that is the #1 goal for my DD and our family as well. So if I am to drink the kool-aid you are selling, VTD would be the best route for my DD to get that scholarship to the college of her choice. Really? How many college scouts do you guys have at VTD tournaments?

What about the promotion of VTD to combat the evil empire? Finally, like I have told you numerous times before, I have no loyalties to any one organization. I have adopted your mentality in that I am only concerned about what is best for my DD and her long term goals, whether they include softball or not. Right now, those plans include softball after high school. Therefore, we are going to go play wherever that helps us the most. That may very well be PGF and I am personally excited about that potential. ASA (or anyone) giving your DD the best opportunity? Please give her my sincere condolences...for the mental midget of a parent she must have who would turn over her "opportunties" to any ASA, PGF, WTF, or STFU. I wish her well despite...you.

Typical Joe response, all sizzle - no meat, or since you are from the west side, how about all hat and no cattle. Trust me my DD's future is in our hands and no softball governing body, or team organization is going to change that. My DD makes me want to be a better man everyday and I strive to do that. However, in terms of governing bodies you really are a complete fool if you think VTD is going to provide more opportunities than ASA. If you had one national tournament to attend and lets say your DD is a freshman, which one are you going to? ASA or VTD?
