Garland Tournament

by rip it » Sun May 04, 2008 8:29 pm

Any results from the 14U A Garland tournament. I figured 95 Glory and 94 Elite would be the top 2 teams. Heard Elite got beat early.

Results and details if anyone has them.

Glory was in the winners bracket last I heard. Elite went o-4. Teams close to the end were 95 Glory, 95 Texas Rage, Centex Buzz, SC Mean Green. No clue what happen from this point.

Last I saw was SC Mean Green fighting back through the losers bracket after being placed there by 95 Glory on their first bracket game Sat. Strong team with some good hitters. The only team in their way to the championship game would be Centex Buzz '93.

Sorry but I don't know the outcome yet.

Here is the finish:

1st 95 Glory
2nd SC Mean Grean
3rd Centex Buzz 93
4th 95 Flowermound Rage
5th Tx Fusion 14U (Mendez)
6th McKinney Fireballs

It was a good weekend of ball. Just wish there would of been a blind draw and not all the heavy hitters in the bottom bracket. 3 out of the top 5 were from the bottom of the bracket anyways! :o

SC Mean Green also just made the b to A transition. Good job to these players, coaches and families for making a solid transition. ugly uni's but a dcent 94 team(if they are who I think they are)..
The spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure.
These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur.

If the '94 Texas Elite went 0-4, what happened? VTD bracket says they got dropped into the losers bracket by Fusion (Mendez), which is the younger Fusion team, and then were eliminated by SC Mean Green. It's not like they got beat by a older 14u with its high school players back in the lineup. This looked like a tough team in the spring with some great pitching and big hitters. Did they lose players?

Nothing really happened...in pool play they played glory and sneaky cleats.....they had fusion first game, got beat.....the tourney format didn't cross bracket the losers bracket, so when sneaky cleats lost to glory in the first bracket.....Elite and sneaky cleats had to play in the losers bracket. I agree with the previous poster that it was bad to have what I felt were four of the top five teams play each other in the first round, and then those losers had to meet. Guaranteeing that a quality team was going home. Also want to say that the glory/fusion game was agreat game....glory came back and got us with no time left.....then we got by Sha-Bang in double ITB....so two great games to start out sunday. Lastly, I think this tourney was proof that a round-robin format with seeding to bracket is the way to go. Because that bracket was unfortunate.

Honcho,
I also agree with you on the brackets. Totally not good. I got to watch your game with the 95 Glory and you guys deserved the win. Your left handed pitcher did an awesome job. But this is what the 95 Glory is famous for, never giving up. You have to play them from the first to the last pitch. Good luck to your team. Looks like ya'll have improved a bit.

exactly....glory did just what we and everybody expected them to do......we left it all out on the field. Our pitcher pitched a whale of a game, and the defense kept making play after play. We are making great strides and are quickly becoming a team to be reckoned with. Give this team some time to jell, and then I think other teams will be concerned about BOTH Fusion teams....IMHO

The bracket was definitely bottom loaded. Survival of the fittest I guess. Glory looked solid as ever. Thought that the Fusion team made a very strong showing against the Glory. SC Mean Green had a long day Sunday after going down Sat. to the Glory. Seen them play the Centex Buzz in the 3rd place game and they murdered the ball, but ran out of gas against the Glory in the championship. Also heard they were missing one of their better pitchers. If you think they had ugly uni's , obviously you didn't see the Chaos. :D
