It's good to hear that Kristi Denny is going to be OK:

Ok so she was wearing a protective mask and still had that much damage????? Um that is not comforting as a pitchers mom. :(

pitchers are going to need to start wearing helmets if the bats continue to be made or modified to be hot, that is some scary stuff, I am so glad that my DD's stopped pitching in rec where the ball was a soft dot

To the Denny family, here's wishing your Kristi and full, and speedy recovery. Thank God she was wearing her protective mask. I still see pitchers in 12U and 14U not wearing them and I pray nothing comes their way they can't handle.
Get better soon,

How long will it be before masks are mandatory? Our DD suffered a slight skull fracture in November without a mask.... and now wears one but grumbles about it. I see corner infielders wearing them more and more and believe it should be mandatory, at least up through 16s.

There are other threads on here to debate the merits of requiring masks

Is it not relative?

I certainly wish Ms. Denny the speediest and healthiest of recoveries...but I have to question the wisdom of returning to the circle if I've already had two concussions (according to the article linked to the thread) in the circle, mask or no mask...

The OCVarsity article said she was wearing a protective mask and was hit in the forehead yet underwent surgery for fractured bones in her nose, sinus cavity and eyesocket? Does anyone know what brand of mask was she wearing? I want to be sure my DD isn't using the same one! Doesn't sound like hers worked very well, but sure am glad she had something on nonetheless. I hope she has a speedy recovery and gets back in the circle soon-with a new stronger mask.

Not looking for a pro/con debate, just a Brand. Thanks.

Kristi (& family) were just on the Fox 11 news. She looked extremely swollen, but in good spirits. From what it sounded like, she wont be returning to the cirlce anytime soon. Just glad she is ok, she is a great girl.
