Thought there were some good teams signed up. Who was there???

I know there was a BS friendly on Saturday that was cancelled for weather but it never really rained or rained all that bad.

Sunday the games started at 8:30 teams were getting there between 6:30 and 7:00. The fields had some water on them but no one was there early to work on them. Bomb Squad manager pulled in about 7:30. Their were about 8 teams there that were all sent home. If this is true you would think that BS would have got there by 6 to let people know.

As a Bomb Squad parent who had our last three friendlies we were supposed to host rained out, Man I really wanted us to play. This is more money I have to put out of my own pocket because we are lacking in the fund raising department. We have lots of travel expenses this season with the hopes of Nationals in the near future ;)

This morning's forecast did not call for any rain, and as luck would have it, a huge thunder cloud dumped right on our fields. It was not nice looking at the doppler and seeing a huge glob of red and yellow right over where we were supposed to be playing. :x Not to mention the City of Fontana left their water sprinklers on and they added to the problem.

The fields were extremely muddy and were unsafe for our girls to play on. There was standing water on the fields and the outfield was worse. As I stepped on the field this morning my shoe began to sink in the mud. We were optimistic this morning and waited to see what the damage was and if anyone would show up with a huge blow dryer. Didn't happen.

The City of Fontana asked us to stay off the fields this morning and we honored their request. They showed up just before our manager did this morning.

On behalf of our team, We apologize for the inconveininace caused by the late calls but it was out of our control. We hope teams will continue to support our friendlies in the future.

Diamonddad (Bomb Squad parent)

PS. If you see a weatherman, punch him in the face for me.

I think you guys should take it a little easy....It's obvious that you have an agenda with Jeff and that's fine too....Same bashers every time on this guy/team....

BUT, unless you have managed your own team and had to get fields through a city for a friendly I wouldn't be so quick to throw him under the bus....The city owns the rights to those fields NOT BOMB SQUAD....I know from personal experience that the city will be unavailable until they decide that they want to be available....They have shown up at my fields 20 minutes prior to games.....

I don't know the truth about what happened there because I wasn't there but it sounds like you weren't either.....At least that's what you say anyway.....So why try starting trouble?

I give them credit for trying to make it go....So Cal Hurricanes did the same thing yesterday and were lucky enough to make it happen.....

Whatever your agenda is with Jeff is your deal but don't blame weather on him.....Try running your own team and then you'll realize it isn't so easy!.....Wes Kay - Corona Xpress

1st off. No one can predict the weather. BS has been trying to host for sometime and the weather has not been their friend. It is very frustrating to managers, parents and players when things like this happen. 2nd by bashing BS you are basicly saying to not support their kids. Thats a crappy thing to say. I am not a BS parent. I was scheduled to play there also. Games were canceled the day before when there wasnt 1 drop of rain. I thought it was way too early. We'll it didnt rain at all saturday and we could've played. So same forecast for sunday and well it did rain this time. So I guess this was a damned if you dont and damned if you do.

Here are a few suggestions:
1. Get to the fields early. If you know its going to rain get up at 4am and cruise the fields. If they are in poor condition cancel right away. I would rather be woken up at 5am and told games were canceled that called a 6:45a when we are half way there.

2. Utilize other fields and organizations. People think that if your a big name organization you dont need anyone. They are wrong. The people we meet along the way can really help you out when you need it most. Check in with the local parks and rec. department. Meet with local baseball, softball rec leagues. Local middle school and high school athletic directors. Any where there are fields available!!

Here is my story>>>>
3 years ago my daughter was with a TB team that hosted a NSA World Series qualifier for 10, 12 & 14U. Someone had gone to our fields and turned on all the sprinklers. We arrived 3 hours before the 1st game to find flooded fields. Luckly we had connections with a rec softball league, baseball league and we had permits for a HS. We were able to move the games to other locations. We had 3 parents working each location and had 8 family members pumping water off the fields and preping them for the next day. We only canceled 1 pool play game!! Our snack bar lost all revenue. We barley covered the costs. But we gained a lot of respect from the teams who saw our fields that morning. We pulled off the impossible and they thanked us many times. Sometimes you have do whacha got to do.

:( :( Those of you that like to sit on here and bash people you ought to take a look around there are alot of players that go on here and read how you are bashing their coach and thats not cool, i was there on the fields yesterday and it had been raining most of the night the fields were literuly underwater and it was in the best interest of the girls not to play i mean come on it was just a friendly and not worth somebody being seriously injured for our own entertainment......... and dont go getting mad at this im just a concerned parent.
