Anderson Bat Q & A

What's on your mind?

The proof is at the plate program gives you thirty days to try the product and if, for any reason you don't like it, you can trade it for something else or a refund. The program is done completely through a participating authorized Anderson dealer. The dealer supports the program (and you) and we support the dealer. You can't get anything through Anderson directly. So make sure your dealer is indeed a participant.

I can vouch for the Proof at the Plate program. I bought my daughter a TechZilla from Softball Sales while we are waiting for the 33" endloaded Nanotek to hit the market (Steve feel free to let my DD participate in the 33" test group. I'll be awaiting your email) :D

Anyhoo, the TechZilla was a nice bat with no defects, but DD simply didn't like it after swinging an endloaded Rocketech for the last 5 years. I called Anderson, got a return authorization with no hassle, and was credited promptly, no questions asked. Anderson has fantastic customer service.

This has been covered a number of times before.

In the large university settings the large manufacturers are looking for the university to take all of their gear. This gives them a consistent marketing platform.

The large universities also like getting all the gear (Uniforms, bats, from a single manufacturer, maintaining multiple contracts is a lot of work. This means that Easton, Louisville, Nike have an inside track with a lot of colleges.

For instance, there are many catchers that prefer a Nakona catchers mitt and will get a waiver to play with their Nokona. Look for catchers with mitts that have all the logos covered or marked out.

The Arizona Bat is another interesting example. http://robocoach.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=3436973&highlight=nike&trail=30

If you go to nationals you will see plenty of the big hitters on the better teams using Anderson bats.

Always Improve hit it on the head. The manufactures partner up with "U's" for all sports. It is big business and advertising for them. With the way the economy is the universities need all the help they can get for programs, especially women's sports. They are not as highly attended so the revenue is not near as high as the men's programs. It sucks but it is the truth. Our family goes to as many of the women's games we can to support the Hawkeye women be it softball or basketball. We really enjoy the time spent as a family and the games are great! Besides my DD's get to meet the team afterwards and take pictures with them and that you do not get with the men's programs!!

But go to any local or national event and see what teams are true hard hitting teams. You will typically find some Anderson Bats in their aersonal. The '05 RT IMHO is still the best FP bat ever made. We have 2 RT's, 1 - 2010 TechZilla, and now 1 NanoTek. We really like the RT's and the TechZilla. We have yet to hit the NanoTek but have no doubt it will be a winner. We have Combat, Cataylst, Stealth, Rip It, all of the big composites on the market. We keep going back for more Anderson's and will keep going back.

We do have a small D1 college presence and if you look hard you can find us but the D1 schools require additional $$ of five or six figures along with free equipment. We don't believe a paid presence is any indication of the quality of a product. We've been approached by many D1 schools but we don't feel like that's the best use of our budget. I'd rather give twelve D2, D3, NAIA or JC programs or twenty-four HS programs equipment than to make a single D1 program a highly paid promotional vehicle that is obviously available to the highest bidder rather than a program looking for the best equipment.

Maybe that will change when we are no longer a little David in a battle with a whole industry of Goliaths and we have lots of promotional $$ to burn.

These are two very different technologies and both have their advantages. the end loaded model doesn't exist yet and is in development. When I get done with it I'll give you an answer that you'll be able to take to the plate.

Glad DD likes it. Feel free to throw up a review. WOW is probably a little short. I'm not complaining; I'm just saying.

I do see your point, but also see the other side as well. The blue Catalyst was a huge hit. A very good bat, but put in the hands of #26 for Team USA and it's a major money maker. Arizona hits with a black Nike bat, and ebay goes crazy selling crappy Nike bats. Have a veteran heybucketeer with a kid that produces with a ping-pong paddle, and all the 10U parents buy their kid a ping-pong paddle. ;)

If I was in your shoes, I would be doing the same as you are doing. I had no idea it was that much money (not product) to sponsor big DI.
