slugger wrote:Fastpitch Fool...I would love to get the SW 93, Dreams Reece, and Homer Hawks to come to Louisville and play us (16U Lady Sluggers). If you have contact info for those teams, please let me know. We can get access to Ulmer Stadium at UofL. We had originally planned to play in a NQ in state the weekend of June 25-27 but it appears to not have a 16U division. We leave for the Colorado Fireworks that Sunday and want to get some quality games in before we head out there. I'd say if all 4 teams got together it would be a good day of softball and Coach Pearsall at UofL would definitely be there to watch and show any prospective athletes around campus. PM me if you think this might be a possibility. I can get in touch with Coach Pearsall to get dates reserved.

Not to break anyone's heart. But the Sluggers 16u nor the Hawks 16u are not in the same league as SW93 or Dreams-reese. Heck, they hang and beat Gold teams. Now the Sluggers 18u, that is a different story. That would be a good game.
Thinking out loud - while I dont know all the teams in the midwest, there are very few that are in that class. I might even go out on a limb and say that Indiana's top 5 16's are very competitive with any other midwest states 16's. Haven't the Magic Gold 16's already beat the sluggers a couple times (at Ball State and IU). I might be thinking of another.

Let me digress back to the original post of Killerbee's a little.

Back in the day didn't we have kids hitting it out of there with 2x4's when they were in 10u. Oh no it wasn't a 2x4 it was a single wall yellow Lisa Fernandez TPS Aluminum????

With that said the DD's future college coach just put a deal together with Combat and of course I bought one so that she can start swinging the bat she will swing in college now. She loves it. Says it has as much pop as her old purple and white stealth.

With the patent they have allowing them to balance the weight of all their bats regardless if they are drop 10,9, or 8 a kid can swing a bat with a little more mass/weight such as mentioned in #33 swinging a 33 drop 8 that in her hands probably feels like a drop 10 etc...

DD is swinging a 34/25 and the ball is coming off of it very well.

So with the bat retailing at 269 and 50 bucks off you are buying a a high quality composite bat from a company who has made bats for several of the big names thru the years that is now on their own for $219 and I am sure their customer service has to be better than Easton's which isn't saying much, but anything would be an improvement.

Just an fyi and of course trying to give props to the company that will supply bats to DD's college team and hopefully I just bought my last bat..............................

Bucketboy,

How is the hitting area of the Combat LFFP vs. the Easton Stealth Speed? That is one area where Easton really had the advantage vs. the rest of the bats. When you place that long barrel on that handle, the hitting area and flex are tough to compete against.

Combat bats have historically had good pop, but have historically had a smaller hitting area. Have they made improvements with the LFFP?

ManitouDan,

No you didn't stir up a hornets nest. Just someone from outside Indiana didn't like hearing the Waves and Dreams were the best two 16U teams in the midwest.

Mr. Doane is a good guy and very proud of his daughter and her team, as he should be. But I don't think he's seen these two teams play.

Both the Dreams and the Shockwaves are clearly great teams. I'd like to think that we are in the same "class". Not saying we're better, just would like to play them. The friendly I was referring to on a Mon/Tues is in Colorado. We arrive on Monday for mandatory check in and will play practice games on Monday and Tuesday before pool play starts on Wed. Obviously, we wouldn't play friendlies during the week if it wasn't a circumstance like this.

As for us losing to the Midland Magic 16U in the Fall, that's inaccurate. We actually beat the Midland Magic at their fall tournament. However, since the fall is designed to be college showcases, I don't put much into the records in the fall. We play everyone every game and rotated players every two innings, with pitchers rotating every 3. We don't sac bunt and we give the girls the green light to steal whenever they want. It's about the girls showcasing their abilities and not sac bunting kids over to get in scoring position.

Our team is new in terms of playing together and I think by the time the summer gets here, we'll be fine. The 18U team is definitely a quality team. But you should know that the 18U team had 4 of the 16U players with them when they played at IU and Murfreesboro this past fall.

Magic Gold 16u, not the Midland Magic. And Nope you are not in the same league. Different zip codes. You would struggle against about 10 other Indiana 16u's before you ever got to the top teams. Not related to the Dreams in any manner, but Matthews Dreams 14u would beat you. Saw them beat the Ohio Classics 18u, at least 8-0. We got bored and left the game.
