Why no USSSA in Columbus?

Just looking at USSSA's schedule, what happened to all the USSSA tournaments in Columbus?

Don't know why you would care!!?? Other than Columbus is a pretty nice place to play. But, i see atleast 1 tournament a month there and 8 age group state tournaments being held in Columbus! Good luck!

I must be missing something, for 16's I see the state tournament and that's it. It's of no consequence to me. Just seems odd that a World Series site and long time USSSA strong hold wouldn't be hosting more tournaments. Our local hotels do alright tournament weekends as well.

I'll admit, I'm interested in the politics of the situation. I realize there has been a tug of war going for several years between USSSA and the City of Columbus. I also thought it was odd that North Vernon suddenly has several tournaments, and they don't have anywhere near the facilities that Columbus has, not to mention hotels, restaurants, theaters, etc. as well as just kind of being off the beaten path.

Lastly I'm curious if what I'm hearing about umpires is correct? I have not seen it, but it is my understanding that they were running ads in The Republic looking for people who wanted to umpire, with an emphasis on high school and college kids. Training was available and your partner would let you borrow his equipment.

I am not trying to slam USSSA, I'm just curious what's going on.

With the new leadership in place, maybe some of that tug of war will change! With all the 14Uand up teams jumping on the ASA/exposure wagon, they may not have enough team registered USSSA to put that many tournaments on the schedule! Dan knows as well as anybody that everybody in the upper age groups are now playing mostly ASA! Even though most have no business doing it!( almost all 14U, any 16U and up still looking for players on eteamz) Maybe dan can lure some of those teams back and get rid of the teams that show up at an exposure and run off college coaches by getting beat 15-0 in 3 innings!This isn't meant to be a knock on the other teams! Everybody has the right to play and there is a place for everybody to play! But look at the annoucement page and every team 14U and up is a "college exposure team" or "Gold" w/ a full ASA schedule! !! Everybody on this board knows that is not the case!! or should know! That's why every ASA tournament started at 8 am friday last year and still ended up with the same 4-5 teams sunday afternoon!

Dan...I am sure you will be an improvement over the old director.. .(Miss Congeniality, or whatever her name was..!)
I'm glad to see tournaments moving to new venues....Shelbyville and Greensburg both have nice facilities that could/should be used more.
