Keep an eye out

by coachcupcake » Sun Jan 03, 2010 6:54 pm

Keep an eye out for Corona Eliminators at your tryouts. They came to ours with a clipboard. To make matters worse, they approached the parents of the players trying out making a sales pitch to them. I personally had 3 parents ask if this is the norm in travel. I had to scramble to answer because I have never experienced this in my coaching career.

Are things really that bad in the Eliminator's organization that they need to do this? Someone enlighten me, plz...

I have had this happen on a rec ball All Star team but never in travel. It is bad enough when you see this happen at friendlies and tournaments, but to go to another teams tryout and recruit that is bush league. I was curious as to the age of the team, older or younger?

This was a 12U (97/98 combined) tryout. I guess if you want to see quality players, our field is the place to come. lol!

Suprising, it's not like there is a shortage of players in the 12U division. I would not even worry, if I was a parent approached by another team at a tryout I would not give that team the time of day.

:o I am a parent that was at that tryout. That was low class IMO. I'll admit I have gone to take a look at other tryouts but never would I of sat there with a clipboard and pen and taken notes, let alone approach parents. Shame on the Corona Eliminators.

From my past experiences with CE, I dont think Francisco would be doing this as an org. Sounds like (if this is factual) the younger age group managers may be having a tough time putting together a competitive spring roster. Not a good way to be seen in the community.
