Pitching coach rec in Indiana

Looking for a PC for 12u daughter. Who are the better ones in Indiana, or who are the more successful pitchers using? Names, numbers, or any helpful info appreciated. What do you like about your reference? Feel free to pmail.

Also, what should I expect to pay on a weekly or bi-monthly basis if I want 60 minutes of 1-on-1 as opposed to dividing the instruction across multiple lanes? Prefer leads from Indy to Louisville, Ky who wouldn't mind a prospective PAY-rent observing them work with an athlete of similar age first.

(Not a high maintenance parent or player--just looking to get the best 'bang' due to the time/travel/expense this will require.)

I am not sure if you will be able to find a person willing to give you a weekly private lesson, but I am thinking you are looking at a minimum of $50 an hour if indeed you do find someone that will do the private.

If you are closer to Louisville you may want to contact Coach Karen Marr at U of L via email and see if she is still doing instruction on the side or if one of the former pitchers from the university such as Katherine Bishop are still providing instruction.

If closer to Indy my dd has been with John Feld since she was 9. Now a senior in HS. John has been the instructor that has taught the best pitchers in central Indiana for many years. He has taught many, many division 1 pitchers and even though he is nearing 70 years of age still demonstrates pitches by throwing in every lesson.

I can't speak of other instructors in the area as the only information I could share about them is hear say.

I think it is a great that you want to observe a lesson and hope you find the right fit for an instructor for you dd. Ask questions of established instructors such as how many of your students are playing college ball, can you throw the pitches, etc...?

Cara Johnson-Hersch is also a good one. She is located in Brownsburgh 3 or 4 days a week. You can go to http://softballone.com/ and get some good info on her. She is not for every body but she is good.

All I can tell you is she has helped my DD. You're reasons for not liking her are yours and I do not really care, that's between you and her. I know some people don't like her and I know a lot of people that do. I also know a lot of kids that are tremendously loyal to her. I just put it on her to give vdubya an option.

My dd developed tremendously when she started working with Jason Wise and the more difficult pitches. Small class size, Club K certified and is consistent week to week as to what he is teaching. If you would like his #, feel free to pm.

No offense taken here. There are a lot of girls that pitch with CJH that do not get a lot of recognition. As far as strong, Whitney Owens wasn't to bad and Petruzzi from Carmel would have been better if not for nagging injuries her last couple of years. She has a new one coming up that is only 14 and will be on the map shortly. My DD has the talent just not the drive to make the next step. That is my DD's vault not CJH. There are a lot of girls that pitch in Indiana now that are on the next level. Sometimes you wonder if they had teams that were strong 1-9 like yours behind them just what they could do.

If you're looking for private 1-on-1 lessons, Krystal Lewallen gives private lessons and does a great job. Krystal started her career at Northern Kentucky, where she broke several national records. She transferred to Louisianna-Lafayette for her final season and was the ace on that staff. She gives lessons on Sundays at Mercy Academy and is sometimes available during the week. She is currently the pitching coach for Mercy Academy and the 18U Louisville Lady Sluggers. She works with kids of all ages, encourages the parents to come and listen to what is being taught so they can help with "homework". She is able to demonstrate the techniques and only does 1-on-1 lessons. If interested in her contact info, PM me.

I want to recommend Coach Marr from U of L as well. We started working with her last summer. My daughter started high school this fall, so she is unable to work with her now. But, she was able to recommend someone who she has trained. We have been very happy. If she isn't able to take new students, she has told us she is happy to recommend someone.
