I do not support bashing an organization just because a coach use to be with them and then got in trouble after they left. I do believe that organizations are responible for the actions of coaches on their staff, but that it debatable also.

I do believe we are missing (1) of the important issues from the post. " What can we, as parents", do to minimize the possibility of a coach (male or female) making sexual advances or comitting sexual acts with or to our children. We as parents have the reponibility to our children to try and prevent this. We need to be sure that organizations have in place thorough background checks. Rules to prevent coaches from ever being alone with our children. Parents have to take an active role in watching their children and coaches for any signs that could be telling them something is wrong.

Please don't push this under the carpet just because you feel someone has unjustly acused an organization. Get passed that and look at the big picture YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY.

What other things can we as parents do to minimize or prevent this from happening??

Well I would not let my dd go to a coaches house for extra practice. Unless it is an entire team and they have some acres in the backyard...extra practice can be done at a batting cage. I guess I don't know how else anyone can combat this other then running background checks...asking the coaches to show us they completed a background check?

Thanks again TEX! for seeing past all the crap to the real issue. my methods are not the best but at least people are now finally talking about education and prevention. thanks to PBJ for also finally seeing past the drama and thinking about what you can do to help our kids stay safe. You mentioned that you do not know what else to do and THAT is the reason why we need people posting on this. because MOST people do not know what to do. so we have to work together to figure it out. if we keep doing things the way we always have kids will keep getting hurt. just because it is not in the news does not mean that it doesnt happen all the time.

so who has some more ideas to help on this?
