It has been up listed on the board for almost a month now as an approved ASA sanctioned event. sanctioning. He has called the teams that are signed up for this tournament today and told them that I will not refund their money if the tournament is canceled. He also said that this tournament was not an ASA sanctioned event, and that all travel permits would be denied. He also contacted the team's associations and told them that the tournament was not ASA sanctioned, and they would not be covered under the insurance if they went and played. He also instructed John Austin not to approve any travel permits. Glenn Gotcher is a thorn in the side of teams wanting to participate in softball in the Ft Worth metro area. Glenn uses his power as an ASA JO to try to push people out of softball that he does not like or agree with.

Just like you, My facts come from reading this thread.

Fair enough SBALLdad. But your facts are not facts. You are taking this side as the absolute truth without any supporting evidence or hearing both sides. At least you can admit that, can't you?

You are taking Larry's word that he HAD sanctioning on this tournament to start with. Are you sure of that fact?

Good question...

SBALLdad and I have consulted on this and have come to this conclusion...

You stated that VTD was a "negative" influence and we'd like you to back up such an idiotic statement. Just the facts please.

Thank you to everyone on here who has been defending the rights of these girls to play softball. I can not set here and respond all day and defend myself. I am new to this hey bucket and I was told Monday that this would be a place for me to get my story out to the softball community. I just created an account on here Monday. I have went and read some of the post of people who are criticizing me and it seems that they do plenty of criticizing of just about anything that is said on here. I want to run tournaments because I enjoy it. Yes I asked for the checks to be made out to me. It is easier to prosecute an individual for fraud than it is to prosecute an association. So if I was going to commit fraud it would not be hard to find me. My full name and address is on the VTD. If there is fraud within an association it is very hard to prove who is doing it. Checks are mailed to a PO box or an association address. This tournament director is transparent and not hiding behind a screen name as a lot of the people on here are. That is why they can set on here day after day and accuse and criticize everyone. Everyone on here knows who I am. My name is Larry Weast and everyone knows that. I do not know Glenn Gotchers true motive behind denying sanctioning of this event. I can only speculate as to why because him or Brenda Grubs did not call me to notify me why the sanctioning was not approved. They just pulled it. I have spoken to other ASA commissioners and was told that if I ran this tournament in their district that I would be given ASA sanctioning. This situation has made it all the way to Glen Morrisons office and there will be some type of investigation of what happened here. I am not bashing ASA as I stated in my previous post. I have already got set up to run ASA tournaments and will be hosting them as well as USFA tournaments. So hate me or love me you will have the opportunity to come and play in some of my tournaments this year. No hard feelings to anyone on here has bashed me. This is not about me it is about providing a venue for girls to play softball. One last thing for those who think that I am bank rolling these tournaments, Here is a breakdown of what it is costing to hold this tournament
1. 350.00 per team
2. total teams participating 7
3. 2100.00 total take from teams participating less Outta control because that is my team and that is why I am hosting this tournament so my team which is brand new can play some ball.
4. Cost of field rental 400.00
5. Cost of umpires 1120.00
6. Cost of trophies 580.22
7. Cost of insurance 150.00

Total profit for TD -150.22
If I get an 8th team before I post the bracket in a little while I might walk away with 200.00
Maybe this will help people to understand that this is not some big money making operation.

Larry no need to apologize for making a little money when you provide a service that people choose to partake in. It's commendable you're running this close to cost, but IMO I have no problems with good tournaments making some money. You're providing the most basic and necessary service for our sport and if you lost money at it, it would be tough to keep doing.

Is is possible that USSSA will be back as the big thing in North Texas? No travel permits, no id cards, flexible rosters, easily searched for tournaments, online tournament payment, easily obtained insurance, and responsive tournament directors. OMG! Can it be! Was it there all along and we just didn't know it!
