Sureno

How many players do you need?

Eliminators... please.

For everyone else, I have a recommendation... I know to win ASA Nationals is awesome and all, but I have a honest opinion about the subject... If your team is NOT going to place in the top 10 at Nationals, and that realistically means about 8-10 teams from So Cal ( figure that TX and GA are going to have 4-6 teams themselves with legitimate chances at top 10), seriously consider Triple Crown World Series in Park City, UT. Just to give another opinion on what was mentioned earlier about going to Nationals for the "experience". TCWS has about the same competition as ASA Western Nationals which you can still compete in if you attend Triple Crown. Most importantly, that ASA "experience" is gonna cost you a pretty penny.... Compare that to Park City UT, just as beautiful in the Summer as the Winter... you can drive there (gas vs. airfare for you and your fam?), most lodging includes a full kitchen (compare that to eating out every night for you and fam), and in between games TCS conveniently gives you time to actually have a family vacation doing fun things for the entire fam and team! There's an all-star game, Individual skills contest, parade...Compare that to having time between games to sit around your hotel room in the air conditioning because it's so damn muggy out (or even raining) that you can't even do anything but maybe visit some cave or something or some college (really? not even us parents think that's fun, we just act like it cause there ain't nothing else to do!)

I only offer my opinion because sometimes we get caught up in the "Nationals" thing moreso than what is actually fun for the girls... But seriously, Nationals for the "experience" is highly overrated. Just remember if you have a team that is one of the best in SoCal, then by all means go for it!!! My little opinion is for those on "the fence". It requires coaches and parents to be honest with themselves. But, you know how that goes

I'm NOT a spokesperson for Triple Crown, but I'm still a highly competitive individual who loves winning. As a matter of fact, my DD is fortunate enought to play on a team that is constantly making ASA Nationals their "Mecca"... but we had the chance when she was younger to compare the two (ASA vs. Triple Crown). I just hate to think that teams miss out on so much when they really have no chance at placing high at Nationals... at 10U? No thanks. Go for the vacation... your family will think you're a stud... Ain't that what's most important?

That being said,

Sureno = Triple Crown World Series

Your explanation is a good one...Park City is great..in that same sense...don't put Park City down as where you should go if you are not " National " caliber..as you noted...Nationals are overrated..while the best teams from Socal went last year and won ..and will probably do the same this year..there were many pretenders at Nationals last year ..with many teams that had no business being there going...

Some feel that the TCWS or the Sparkler is just as well as opposed to going to BFE...
to " represent"...

Alot of teams that go to TCS could represent just as well at Nationals...The parents aren't just being "honest with themselves"..they just would rather at 10U or even 12U go for the noted highlights of Park City that you pointed out ,instead of just being able to say they went to "Nationals"...

After watching a lot of 10u teams this fall, here's my top 10:

1) FIRECRACKERS '99
2) TEAM ANDERSON
3) JYNX
4) BATBUSTERS
5) HB BREEZE
6) RAMPAGE (not sure if they're all 99's)
7) MADNESS (also not sure if they're all 99's)
8) TEAM WATLEY
9) CORONA ELIMINATORS
10) REVOLUTION USA
10) POWER SURGE '99

Sleepers in 10U? We should call 'em "Nappers".
The spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure.
These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur.

SoCal10UDude - The Mission Viejo Rampage team is a '98 team playing down. They're mostly MV All-Stars going to 12U next year. They played very well this weekend from the games that I watched and judging by the teams they took out of the tournament. So, just thought you should know that when recalculating your rankings. Thanks for taking the time, you rankings look fairly accurate to what I've seen out there this season.

Ok thank you for that information. I had not seen them in the 10U circuit and they were not on my list. They are a different team than SoCal Rampage 10U out of IE #29 an '00 team. Hard to assess Jynx's loss to this team too if they are a '98 team playing down.
