Playing in the snow?

by asmackdaddy » Wed Dec 02, 2009 10:31 am

It seems like everybody is playing this weekend in one place or another. Any word on if TD's are planning to play Friday? I want the girls to play I just hope I can see them from my car.

Hmm its going to be an interesting weekend IF we do get to play. I know that there are possible pool games for KCC on Friday....but rain/snow might out that. Sitting in the car is not a bad idea! :D

HA. I will be in the car all weekend IF we play.
What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.

Ok, I'm gonna throw this out there and tell me what you think. I know the weather forecast sucks and alot of teams have been waiting a long time to play in this tournament. The TD has probably busted his butt trying to pull this off. But at what point do you say, THIS IS CRAZY.

If this forecast holds true, you are gonna have girls playing in rain/snow in 31-33 degree weather with 7-10 mph wind for Friday night pool games. Parents, coaches and umpires driving on possible slick/icy roads. I love softball but does this really make sense.

Pool games have already been cut to 1 game because the tournament was overbooked and nobody wanted to play Thursday night. Why not cut out all pool games and start the bracket games around 11 or 12 when it warms up to a balmy 37 - 40 degrees.

Just asking ;) ;)

Don't forget that because the fields out there are so wide open, with that wind, it will feel about 10 degress colder than everywhere else that day. I can't imagine trying to drive those roads out there with possible ice on them, that's nuts! Good luck to all that are headed there this weekend! Be careful!
My daughter is perfect, she knows everything. Just ask her.

You are all wimps :) !! Good news is that ASA allows bat warmers this year!

FYI,

You can make a quick and dirty bat warmer by putting a 2lb bag of rice into softball sock then tying a knot at the top. Heat in microwave for 5-6 minutes(careful it will be HOT  ) and it will retain heat for about 2 hours. First few times it's moist, after that it works great.

I'll start taking pitty on you guys once you play in the cold so often that you start buying orange chalk for the foul lines and batters box
