A.S.A. Turkey Tourney Predictions??????????

by OCwildcatMom » Mon Nov 30, 2009 12:31 pm

From what I saw in the 98 teams was that the slower pitchers seemed to handcuff the 97's till the 2nd or 3rd time through the batting order, then it was almost dangerous in some cases.

For once I agree with the closer on this one and we all know that there will be lots of movement come Jan/Feb and teams will grow and improve and the well coached and talented teams should improve by June. I think there are a few other all 98 teams that willl end up strong I am little biased though. I know you wont agree with me on that one closer. Big year of emotional and physical growth and most difficult transition for most players.

I had 7 of the 8. Damn, where did Teamsmith come from? Didn't see that train coming.

I also had 7 of the 8 (I did not have Team Smith there either!)

I think FC 98 and Victory 98 are solid teams but they physically don't match up with top tier 97 teams. What will keep them in most games and help them pull off occassional upsets against good 97 teams will be skill and coaching.

Outside of those two teams all other 98's will get handled by not only top-tier teams but also mid-tier teams easily.

I will have to agree it will happen on Friendlies when teams are working on different things, some of these 97 teams might be looking at them as opportunities to work on stuff. I have seen only a couple of 98 temas that might be around when it counts but winniing 2-3 games on Sunday seems out of reach right now.

Ok since this tournament is over I have to say I did see some interesting coaching. Both Semi's in 12U especially the BB game showed they should be around as they both have talented girls as well as coaches. AP-TS had some ups & downs as it looked like they were both not as asertive on decisions. I am a big fan of this team....but the CA-97 had a chance to at least scare BB-Ray's team and let it slip away with some head scratching decisions. MG-97 also had some games in which the coaches looked almost scared. VT is always entertaining as he is up & down, same went for OC Frenzy

Just curious on what you guys saw as most of the top teams participated in this. Not being a monday Morning QB just wanted to get a discussion going on this.

CA97 coach is a riot to watch and listen to, especially when he is about to lose an artery out of the side of his neck

what I didnt understand was WHY did BB Ray start his one pitcher who got in trouble EVERY game but then brought in his #1 to save the game? Doesnt he have more than 2 pitchers? The poor girl was having a rough day, why keep attempting to lose? I bet those parents were a nervous wreck all day

BB Snow coaches aways stay pretty cool and never let things get out of control. Were they missing players? their dugout looked empty

VT is always entertaining

We all know it wasn't their # 4........they have 2 good pitchers the other one was just having a rough weekend. She will be able to help this team when it counts as they can use the both of them back & forth. Good problem to have
