It is with great excitement that USSSA announces Dan Runge as USSSA Fastpitch State Director for USSSA. Dan's goals will take fastpitch to the next level in Indiana. I know that he will be asking any leagues or tournaments that are interested in sanctioning with USSSA to please get with him. He will be establishing play for A, B, C, and rec level teams. Watch how you throw the words "Coach" and "ASA exposure team" around. I have been accused of not knowing how to do either one of them.

Indiana USSSA, weakest sanctioning body in the state?

Just curious here, but what is it about USSSA that makes you consider it the weakest in the state? At the younger levels in baseball, USSSA is one of the better sanctioning bodies. IMO

I have been told that ASA is better for the older age groups, while NSA is considered more family oriented and geared towards the younger age groups. Is this correct?

I've heard that about baseball!! But softball, not so much! If your team has any talent you have to play up atleast one age group if not more! The competition is not there for a top level program. You are correct that older age groups play ASA and NSA is more family friendly! USSSA just doesn't draw the better competition in Indiana. If you go south(KY, TN) it's a whole different story! Good teams, cheap tournaments($250-$275) good umpires! In Indiana they charge the same as everybody and the competition is bad, tournaments not run very well(may change with new leadership) umpires not very good. But, thats at all sanctions. ASA is getting watered down now also, with all the "exposure" teams out there! There are 5 maybe 6 legit exposure teams(not girls, TEAMS) in this state! Tons of talent in the state,just to many teams! Look at last years 16U ASA tournament finishes, same 5 or 6 teams every weekend Shockwaves, Magic, Dreams(both reese/laming) Gators. Thow in the wizards and explosion every now and then! That was with a 30 plus tournament field! Sorry went off topic, USSSA just hasn't been able to compete with NSA or ASA in indiana, Maybe that will change in the future, atleast in the younger age groups!

I agree with Looking In. In the past USSSA has offered a good value (7 GG's) at nice ball parks, but you may only play one or two competitive teams all weekend and the umpires were always horrible....plus the former leadership could be very difficult to work with and generally a real pain in the a%$..! I anticipate things will improve.
