Team Mizuno

by Vess Express » Fri Nov 13, 2009 2:56 pm

I think the better question is why does it infuriate new organizations so much when people point out what they do wrong? I'll agree, a lot of people on here (myself included at times) may have the wrong approach and just sound like their being d!cks, but there is a wealth of knowledge from some of the people who have been around a long time. Mizzuno is nothing new. New teams and new organizations start up every year, all with good intentions, some with really good ideas. Some hang around for a while, and some crash & burn. Point is, there's always someone who's experience stops at the 10U B ball level who is defending every negative point thrown out there. Why not read between the asinine commentary and take something from what all of these people are telling you?[/quote]

I agree. There is a lot to be learned from some of the people who have had daughters playing for a while. I seem to learn something new every day. My softball experience goes way beyond 10U B softball. I just want to do what is best for my daughter, and the girls we are with.

It just looks like everyone jumps on a person who appears sincere on helping some girls. I guess it makes for better reading.

Lastly, I have nothing to do with Team Mizuno, sorry. Not sure how that got started.

Here's a question that I'm pretty sure every parent of the current two teams as well as parents of prospective Mizuno players want to know...

Let's say 8 girls show up to your tryouts. All of them are 98s, and they are all better than every player on the Shadows. What do you do?

3 99 pitchers show up. They all throw 50+, and have the consistency of Cat Osterman. They each have a breaking ball that would make grown men say :o , and the differential between their fast ball and change is 17 mph. What do you do?

I would ask for the name and phone # of the three 99 pitchers that throw 50+. A private I/M will be fine

If that were to happen I would venture out and say that Team Mizuno would have a real good 10u and 12u team for next year. But then again, I am from Missouri " the SHOW ME state".

Of course it's not going to happen. There are only 2 responses though...

"We would cut players from the current Shadows team to make room for the better players"
OR
"We will protect our current roster players"

You're acting like you and your DD have something to be worried about.

Most coaches will always keep hard working kids and very talented players. If a team has tryouts to either fill a position or two and 4 or more total ringers show up for the tryout, what would you expect a coach to do in that situation? Just asking, so that I don't have the wrong perception if my DD were to experience the same situation.

My DD is much older but to answer your question...I would expect the coach to take the best 12 (or however many girls he intends to roster) from the current team and tryout.

I kinda of already knew that, just wanted to make sure. Unfortunately as the girls get older and the game gets faster, it will weed out the weakest links in your armor. I look forward to seeing what the talent looks like at the tryout.

I guess that I really don't see the big deal with Mizuno "taking over" the NT Rampage. I give them credit for "improving" as some people say they are and I do wish them the best of luck. With the departure of Shadows, Cyclones, Heat, Force, Danger Zone, and Legend, 10U for next year seems wide open for NTX. As a note thought, the teams above were all very successful and cumulatively were the teams to beat in 10U this past year with no real threats from anyone besides each other. Sure, some of them may have the name of other "programs" but they are pretty much independent and stick with what they got so just because there is a new brand name in NTX, that in no way guarantees them success.

Liveintex, thanks for the kind words about NT Rampage. The girls have worked extremely hard and realize that it will take more hard work to continue to get better. I also realize that the two current Mizuno teams have there work cut out for them to put the best product on the field possible. The good thing about it is that all of the coaches involved are willing to do whatever it takes to insure that these girls are consistantly improving to be the best that they can be in all facets of the game. You are also correct in that there are no guarantees, which is why the coaches and the girls will work extremely hard to get to where we want to be!!
