Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship

Leaving today for Surrey, British Columbia for the Canadian Open Fastpitch Championships.... DD is playing in the Women's Elite Team Division with the California A's. The team is made up of Division 1 players and they begin play Friday night against Great Britain. It should be an exciting week of softball.. only bummer is being in Canada on the 4th of July.

California A's beat Team BC 7-0. Tomorrow games at 10:30 vs Mexico and 6:30 vs China, Monday vs Great Britain @ 6:30, Tuesday @1 vs Indonesia and 6:30 vs St Louis Extreme Elite, Wednesday vs White Rock @ 3pm and Thursday @ 1 vs Peru.... The elimination starts after pool play

We beat Mexico 12-0 in 4 innings.... Erin Wesley started pitching for the A's with Amanda Horowitz pitching the last inning (4th). Morgan Melloh and Blaire Luna pitched yesterday against British Columbia in the 7-0 win

Playing China Tonight @ 6:30. Apparently everyone bats left handed for the chinese and they had their bats confiscated for being illegal... they are borrowing their opponents bats to play...

Calif A's beat China 1-0. The A's score 1 run in the top of the 7th after getting out of a bases loaded jam in the 6th. Morgan Melloh pitches the complete game shutout and has the game winning rbi on a push bunt that gets past everyone...

play Great Britain tomorrow at 6:30pm

California A's beat Great Britain 4-0 behind Blaire Luna's pitching.... the team is currently 4-0 in pool play. They play Indonesia tomorrow at 1pm and and St Louis Extreme tomorrow evening at 6:30.

The weather has been a small issue... it's been raining pretty much everyday but hearing the weather should be improving... so far mostly an annoyance but definitely not too fun.

A's win 2 today... 10-0 vs Indonesia and 11-0 vs St Louis Extreme. The team plays White Rock Canada tomorrow and Peru on Thursday before entering bracket play. The team has not allowed a run in 6 games and are currently at 6-0 in the tournament.

Team USA and the International teams arrive Tomorrow to start the international division and will continue through the weekend.

Team and player stats can be viewed on the web site. There has been pay per view TV coverage and will continue through the weekend.

The Calif A's beat Canada "White Rock Renegades" 7-1 to secure the #1 seed. The A's play Peru Tomorrow to wrap up Pool play. The double elimination tournament begins Friday.

The A's hosted Team Peru at their Hotel for a Pasta Dinner and Social Hour before taking in the Fireworks being shot off from the Washington.... visible over the bay from our hotel.

Mean while Team USA goes into ITB and beats Team Venezuela 5-4 in 9 innings.
