What does everyone think? Are you for or against? What about the public option? This will get really heated so no personal bashing. Try to keep it to the facts.

Scares me, the government does not run very much too well, most thing very poorly. The IRS and post office are two examples. I have worked for three different cities. Some departments are run well, some are horrible with abundant waste, it is disturbing to think of that on a national level.

Fact: America currently has the best health system in the world. Sure things can be improved but it is the best in the world none the less.

Fact: Every place socialized medicine has been implemented, the service has gone down and costs go up.

Fact: Every person with serious medical problems that can, comes to America for their health care. This includes most Canadians and many from Europe.

Fact: In every country with socialized medicine, it take a minimum of 6 months to get in to see a doctor. In some, it takes over 2 years. Sure its free (for people who don't work) but good luck getting in.

Fact: Your taxes will go up 30 to 40 percent.

Fact: If you currently have a health plan, you will be forced to still pay your premium and pay the extra tax for everyone else. This is of course until your company decides to stop paying for insurance as it is free. Why should they continue to pay their share? They have to pay more taxes to cover people who are not their employees.

Fact: Obama will be the last President of the United States of America. This country will not even resemble the Democratic, free enterprise institution provided for by the founding fathers when he is done. His successor will inherit a socialist country on the verge of collapse. One where there is no advantage to working as everyone who sits around and watches Oprah all day gets the same as those who bust their backsides. The American spirit and ingenuity will be totally sucked out of the country.

I agree with all of your points. My problems is the companies that have control over healthcare now. It is all about profit and nothing about healthcare. Recission, lies, and billions of dollars in profit. Could it be better?

A word about the Canadian system...

Often, the Canadian system is used as the model that we should use in the USA. Their system 'works' because they have a bailout plan. The bailout plan is the American healthcare system.

Let me splain...

If you get sick in Canada and end up in the que (6 to 12 months), you can always thank Michigan, New York, Washington for providing the care you need...with about a wait of 1 -2 weeks.

So if we go single payer, where will we go for healthcare when we really need it?

Viva Mexico!!!

What?

It's all about healthcare!!! And the incentive to deliver it properly is... profit.

If you take away the incentive, guess what you're gonna get? Get ready to get in line with all the muchachos at the public hospital downtown. It'll be just peachy.

George Bush did teach Americans one thing...

"the federal government has no spending limit. The money will never run out" GEORGE W BUSH. So we elect someone that can really spend it and now you complain.

the primary reason for personal bankrupcy...medical bills

chances are we'll die broke...cause in last two years of our lives we'll hand it all over to the US health care system.

Many people here in Tucson go to Mexico for the health care and dental surgery. I have never tried it, because I don't like to travel there.

But, an acquaintance just had surgery in Louisiana and the drainage tube was put in backwards (as I understand it) and everything was draining back into her. She is alive but has been in critical condition for 10 days.

I just hear of so many medical accidents, anymore - or misplaced records, tests, etc., that something needs to be done.

I know my concerns are separate from health insurance concerns, but I just wanted to vent.

Yes, many problems with the current system that need to be addressed. Gong to socialized medicine is not the answer. We (America) currently enjoy the best system in the world. Why step backwards. As to the profit: Of course the companies are in it to make a $, that's the American way. Provide a good service and make a $. Provide a bad service and go out of business (unless your business is an auto manufacturer or bank) then the government will bail you out.

Under Obama's plan, anyone over 65 is a wright off. Only minimal care to be given. No major surgeries or procedures. I guess Obama thinks the elderly are just taking up space and should die anyway. Kinda reminds me of the old show, "Logan's run" where they kill everyone when they turn 40. Can you believe anyone voted for this fool. Last poll just showed Obama's ratings are almost as low as George Bush's at their lowest point. No president in history has had worse numbers this soon into his presidency. I guess America is starting to wake up. I just hope we can survive 3 more years with this fool at the helm.
