What happend to the thread for Background checks for Coaches

But just incase, since there are about 100 softball teams there, assume that there will be at least one pervert at the ball park and don't let your players go anywhere alone. It was a standing rule on our teams from coach pitch on up that no player walked around by herself. Probably a good idea to have the same rule at the hotel also.

And if FT Worth Metro ASA would investigate more, they will find this team has an illegal player...the player played with a state team at 12U HOF....

Did that team finish in the top 8 at HOF?

The top eight finishers in each of these Hall of Fame Tournaments shall receive a berth to the Girls’ USA / ASA Class A Fast Pitch National Championship Final in the age group in which they participated. In each tournament, the top eight teams’ rosters are frozen with the exception of pickup players in accordance with Article 503, Pick-up Players, of this Code.

I made some calls and out that ASA is aware and that Ft. Worth Metro has taken the necessary steps to resolve the situation. I was told that they could not discuss it with me at the present time but that there have been some false information released about the situtaion and some truth.

Fact; The HOF Qualifier is just that . A qualifier to go to the HOF National Qualifier. The HOF Qualifier is not a National Qualifier tournament. Two different tournaments... One to qualify to go to the other to try to qualify for nationals. I would think that with nationals upon us that the commissioner has checked and signed all teams rosters.

What have you done besides protect this individual?

I have 2 dd's why would i protect anybody who is a creep. we have had a lot of posts on here that are flat out lies. what if someone posts that you were a predator should i just leave the post up not knowing if you are or aren't?

I do not know anyone from the Kruzers, but they played 3 games before going home. They won their 1st against Compuware 95, who then appeared to forfeit their next game in the loser's bracket. Not sure about that story of the Kruzers using an illegal player. just an observation.

To the softball community,
My name is Ron Withee, General Manager of American Liberty Softball Club. On Monday 7/13/2009 this issue was brought to my attention. When this individual first started helping out with our team I personally did a check on him on a site I use called familywatchdog.gov. Unknown to me was that his last name was spelled slightly different than his brother. When typed in at this particular site it brought up nothing. After learning that his last name was spelled a little different than his brother I was able to view his history. On Tuesday, 7/14/2009, I informed this individual and his brother that he would no longer be allowed to help with practices or games and would not be allowed at any of our team's events or functions. Simultaneously, I informed all of the teams parents what had just transpired and all were thankful that it had been handled swiftly. Currently, our metro is handling the deliberation process for any reprimand against the coach in question.

Ron,
Whatever happened with this? You said your metro was handling deliberation for reprimand. So can we all assume that Thomas won't be able to coach ASA with the Bombers this year? If not, what are these reprimands that your metro came up with?
