You guys are so smart about what's going on with impact gold, maybe you should coach all the teams! Call Stoney right now!

No need to call Stoney. You are providing all of the answers needed.

Yes, if the teams have already been identified for both teams then why waste the parent's time in posting a tryout. I also have heard Durham has already made some offers and has already selected a few players. Then why have a tryout. They should have invitational tryouts instead. Then no one will waste their time and money attending the tryout.

If you think the majority of the team has not been selected through back channels, then you are naive. As far as splitting the team to a Premier and ASA, makes sense. Hard for Stoney to be the Houston ASA top dog and have his gold team play Premier. He'd have some splaining to do Lucy. IG have made some recent moves that may back fire soon. The new coach is brining a shady history along.

Who cares? Winning is is good, very good. But is it not the purpose of Gold Ball to get seen by as many Schools as you can so the Girls have the opportunity to play at the college level to get an education?

This program has a proven track record for just that.
If you are good they will pick you up, or look at a few of the other programs with a proven track record.

Nuff said

No my DD does not play for Impact :D

Hey, IG has been successful because they have been able to provide consistency in both coaching and organization over the past few years.....something no other organization in Houston has been able to replicate in such a volunteer organization. In addition, they have the full support of SKGSL in maintaining and promoting their organization, again a feat no other organization has been able to accomplish as well. So big kudo's for them, and I don't think anyone should knock them for executing a successful plan.

Does not mean however that your DD must play for them to be labeled a big time Houston talent. In fact, many organizations are quite successful in matching schools with kids, but the organizations with the greatest stability are the ones college coaches gravitate to because---SUPRISE!---they know who the coach is year after year! Saddest thing I see though are the committed kids that do rise to the top level of play that somehow seem to think they need to play for IG their junior/senior year to get that last piece of "success". A great marketing job by IG, but I see it as a poor showing of character by the player for not using her success to help promote the team that got her there.

Agree! Stay with what got you there. Where's the commitment these days?

Worse then that is the kids who plays for a team/organization who helps them get the scorlarship to the bigtime college program, then leaves after verballing to go play for a team that eaither doesnt travel or a team with deep pockets who can pay their way for them. That's a real slap in the face to the team that was loyal to the kid and helped them get their scholarship.

Which would be the higher priority for you: Your kid plays for 2 years on the team she played for during recruiting, playing with/against good players or your kid plays for a team that week in and week out plays with/against better players? We chose the latter. But then we suck as parents. I wish we had consulted people who were more knowledgeable than us. We went with her future coaches suggestions that better competition would better prepare her for college competition.

BTW, given the amount of loyalty/gratitude shown to employees in the business world, anyone want to argue that teaching kids loyalty or gratitude, at their expense, toward an organization will serve them well? I'm afraid I just don't see the point.

Now that thar is a person that knows what he is talking about. Lucy, Lucy, Lucy.

I am guessing they may have to find another coach and have three 18U Gold teams with all the girls that are heading IG way!
