Hey badboy put your money where your mouth is. I am not saying they are signing any 8th , 9th and 10th graders but they are offering them verbal commitments. They also are sending out hand written letters to these young players. The college coaches call the players coach and asks the coach to have the players parents call them. Then they are asking them to come to their school on a non official visit. Are you talking like a JR college or D3 school.

Badboy, maybe you haven't been through the process. A college coach CAN send an initial letter to a player no matter how old she is. Can also send a hand written card of recognition. They can also make offers to players no matter the age or grade once they get you on campus for a camp/clinic or visit. If you know anything about this board, Numerouno knows college softball.

Hey Numero Uno glad to see your on here and now we can use the word A$$hole. It isn't that I was calling that BS I was calling out the coach which always over promises and never delivers. He has a team that hasn't even attended 1 Nationals and he wants to concider himself God of softball. He attracts weak minded parents like JOE and sells them on a come to bbat we have it all figured out and then he has moderate success and beats his chest without nothing but a cheap trophy at a weak tournament....

I don't want to get into it with the Texas crowd, I would rather sit back and watch all of you in the Octogon of fastpitch.

I know of a Gold team that never even gets close to making it to ASA Gold nationals and he signs all his players every year. There are a lot of teams that do that.

If your dd is on a team that competed successfully last year at 12u Nationals and is considered a great player as well as most of her teammates. What should the team do to start getting college looks and verbal offers?

college clinics w/ programs
college camps
14u National tournaments
16u local tournaments
Move to gold ball
other?

My daughter is on Mark's team and I'm going to have to admit that I'm offended that someone would call me weak minded. My daughter likes Mark's coaching style and wants nothing more than to compete for him. Trash Mark and DBAT all you want. Be careful though when trashing parents because you don't know who you are trashing.

Okay, I'll bite since it is a slow day.
Anything that happens in 12-U should be fun and learning about mechanics of the game. When you get to 14-U you may want to start considering your options. Regardless of age group, once your a freshman you should be sending college coaches emails and letters. If your a great player like you stated, they will find you. I went to 14-U ASA Nationals in Marietta, GA and sat with SEC, ACC and Big XII coaches as they watched 14-U kids. A couple of those that were 14-U last summer are on our gold team, one already committed. By the time your in the 8th grade I would start going to camps and clinics. Again, if your great, the coaches will know.

I have no desire to move teams. The coaching is great, the girls are talented and they compete with the best! If she can play with her friends and get a scholarship offer then it is win-win!

You people are crazy if you dont think Top 25 Programs are looking at the Top 14U players. Sure there is a lot of money left for 2011s, but many D1s are on to recruiting 2012s and 13s already. There were many major programs represented at 14A Nationals last summer in GA and I would venture there will be even more this summer in IL.

As for 8th graders receiving letters, mine do. My team didnt Qualify for Gold Nationals but 100% of the 2010 & 2011 class who played for me last summer committed Div 1 (Big 12 & Southland) and all the new 2011s we added have D1 offers (Big 12, Southland, Sunbelt, Conference USA & Ivy). Not bragging, just stating the facts. The coaches who bust their butts to work the system get their kids recruited.

Whether you agree with Mark, Dan, Kevin, Slade, JD, Ken or any one else, who cares, but at least they are all trying to do what they believe is best for their kids.

One more thing that no one ever believes, many college coaches do read these message boards and its not hard for them to figure out who's parent or which team "Negative Nacy" is associated with.
