Consider that most of these aces are big, tall kids, 5'10" or above, and momentum and leverage become a big factor on their knees. The risk is just too great to the kid and their future, put in a small zippy courtesy runner please!

I don't agree.

There are some pitchers that don't want to run, and some that can't run well because of their size/height/agility, and that I understand. But, all pitchers do not feel that way, and some are among the most athletic players on their team. As with a lot of situations, it depends on the person.

If you were the parent of a girl who's school was paid for because of her pitching ability, you would agree.

You are not right about that. If your dd is not normally lead-off batter, maybe she is not the same type of player. Regardless, it is often said on here that if the girl is happy, she will play well. Batting, running, getting extra bases is what makes her happy. If she does go to college and play ball, she would rather be #2 pitcher, and get to bat, run, and have a chance to play other positions, instead of just pitching and sitting.

I believe in the WCWS last year, Ricketts stole home when Alabama tried to throw out a runner stealing second. I don’t remember the exact situation, but I do remember thinking that things were really going OUs way, if she was stealing home successfully. As stated above by MavFan, I thought normally pitchers in college do run for themselves because if they are sub'd for twice, they must leave the game?

I am right. In your situation, the player's education isn't paid for because of her pitching ability, but rather her overall athletic ability. In the situation, I described, and in the case of the BH pitcher, the player's education is provided for because of her pitching ability. She had no business running bases in high school.

It's best to not post about injuries, but if you are going to, get your facts straight.

You're right 4fun. I will refuse to believe what a girls mother says anymore. I did not post out of malice. I know and care about the girl very much. Since she has clarified to me the first info was incorrect after all and explained to me all she will be dealing with, I still wish her the best in her recovery. It wont be a walk in the park. Good luck to BH the rest of the year.

I too disagree with her running the bases. But that's JMO. Let those that are paying her for school make those decisions.

I definitely agree with that.

Many pitchers out there are hitters too and run bases with the best of them. Sometimes a heads up baserunner is better than a scattered brain speedy runner who doesn't make good decisions. Problem is this...girls notoriously drag their feet when they run. Metal cleats make those that drag their feet pay with knee injuries, bottom line! If your pitcher was slow and you had speed on the bench then i'm sure your coach wished he would have made a change.

Hindsight is so clear. Decisions made on a Friday night in the middle of a games not so much it seems.

I saw them up in CyFair. I don't think they are hurting at all. What a pitching staff for High School!

So from the top ten below, who is the real deal that we should expect to see in the final 4? BH, LCM, and Foster all have to play through each other so only one will be left standing....and what about the others?

Class 4A

1. Barbers Hill
2. Dripping Springs
3. Ennis
4. Little Cypress Mauriceville
5. Corpus Christi Moody
6. El Paso Hanks
7. Burleson Centennial
8. Mansfield Legacy
9. Richmond Foster
10. Buda Hays

How about a rematch between Dripping Springs and LCM. I think both teams pitched a nohitter in the last meeting.

Good luck to all the teams that qualified for the playoffs. I've read district 5 was arguably one of the toughest districts in the state. Azle and Lake Dallas wont make the playoffs but are probably better than many of the other district teams that made it.

I really like Bradi For D.S. She is a U of Ill. signee as a pitcher and is a hell of a hitter to boot!

My bad! thanks for the correction. Left out an "N". Not intentional.
