Consider that most of these aces are big, tall kids, 5'10" or above, and momentum and leverage become a big factor on their knees. The risk is just too great to the kid and their future, put in a small zippy courtesy runner please!

I don't agree.
There are some pitchers that don't want to run, and some that can't run well because of their size/height/agility, and that I understand. But, all pitchers do not feel that way, and some are among the most athletic players on their team. As with a lot of situations, it depends on the person.

If you were the parent of a girl who's school was paid for because of her pitching ability, you would agree.

Gotta side with Just4fun on this one, just too much risk to the program and the kid. Now if the HS program can't get to playoffs and the kid is not committed to a pitching related scholarship, I'd say have at it and have fun! Besides, do you see Ricketts, Traina, Canion (who also tore her ACL running to first) stay on to run the bases?

The biggest difference between HS and College is the courtesy runner rule. So comparing Ricketts, Traina, Canion or whatever college pitcher you want, to a high school or summer ball teams pitcher is irrelvent.
With that being said, if Ricketts, Traina and Canion ran well then yes I would see them staying out there all the time, but they don't run well, so they get ran for 1 time in a game. The other times they get on, they are running, or else they are burned and cant pitch for the rest of the game. Because , again, there is no courtesy runner in college,
